I have a (somewhat) mystery:

what's the REAL story behind Prince's "collaborations" with Wendy & Lisa? I mean, would somebody please come out and tell me exactly what they WROTE??? You know, I dont wanna wake up twenty years from now to the news that Prince died, and that, in actuality, he didn't write any of that stuff. I'm not trying to hear that, for real...so what gives?

Did he write "Like a Prayer" for Madonna?

In 1986, Modanna visited Paisley Park, where they generated a handful of embryonic ideas. Later that year, when Madonna was acting in the David Mamet play Speed-The-Plow on Broadway, Prince approached her backstage with a mix of "Love Song," one of the numbers they had taped; Madonna found it more exciting then she had rememberd, and she expressed interest in including it on her next album. Rather then working 2gether in the studio, they instead added parts in isolation, using couriers 2 send the master tape back & 4th across the country. The song, a plodding, static composition enlivened somewhat by Prince's skillful vocal harmonies (the entire song, in fact, sounds more like Prince then Modanna), later appeard on her 1989 album Like A Prayer.

Sometimes, his production projects do sound more like him than the performing artist.. and yuck...

The play "Speed The Plow" which featured Madonna ran from April to December 1988. I've always wondered what point in time exactly that Madonna visted Paisley Park for this collaboration. Do you think it was more likely 1988 or 1987? Winter or Summer?

Dammit! Now I'm curious.....

If it exists, I figure that it's actually something really personal, and that he wouldn't want anything he said to come back at him or be criticized for any of it, so he doesn't want it opened 'til after he's dead. Either that, or it's a tape of Prince laughing his ass off at us because everything -the songs, the odd behaviour, everything -was all some grand joke meant to keep us guessing, when it really all meant nothing.

yea but y 200 yrs? y we ALL gotta b dead b4 that thing if it exists gets released?

like i said...purple bitch!

Why 200 years? Who knows. It's Prince. He does a lot of shit no one else really gets.

Madonna was on a world tour for most of 1987 and spent the late fall/winter of 87 shooting "Bloodhounds of Broadway" -- so I believe her time working with Prince was the early '88 before she started in "Speed the Plow" on Broadway.

in response to all the "why does he not release more" questions, prince said in a recent interview, that having so much freedom means you have to use it responsibly and cant just givepeople (ie the fans) too much freedom so thats why he hasnt flooded it as of yet.

thats what it said more or less. so basically he just thinks now he has freedom he has to use it sparingly!

Mayb this will help it talks about the cover art then goes in the the question u just asked: Warners requested alternative art from Prince, but he refused; he believed the cover to b an integral part of a carefully constructed personal & religious statement. His conception of Lovesexy as a unified whole also prompted his refusal 2 "index" the compact disc version, meaning that consumers who bought the CD could not flip from song 2 song, but had 2 listen 2 the album entirety. Warners rightly worried that consumers would find the inability 2 play there favorite songs maddening.

Prince thinks differently so he does stuff like this.lol He just looked at it has spiritually and as one if that makes sense. smile
[Edited 9/20/04 13:06pm]

then why not do that w/ TRC?

He did do that with the initial download of the album a while before the retail release.

It was also told at the celebration that the album was to be experienced as a whole,
but given the complaints it rained over Lovesexy being a one track disc, I don't think
he cared to go through such shit again detracting from the message of the album.
and true love lives on lollipops and crisps

The construction site? Or the Paisley Park in his mind?

It wasn't opened 4 another year.

Oh and was Madonna there when Prince and Modanna were? That woulda been neat.

Are ya shoes on too tight or somethin'?

Paisley Park was in operation during the late summer or fall of '86, when "Good Love", "Feel U Up", and other songs were recorded.

5. How old was he when he lost his cherry?
4. Is he real?
3. How did he manage to create such an awesome catalogue in the 80's, and then release Jughead?
2. Why Tony M? Why?

OH Lawd. He DOESN"T FAR ON LOVESEXY!!! He farts a few times on the Gold Experience, and New Power Soul basically reeked of a fart, but Prince has employed his ass belching skills very few times in his career.

I think he was 16 when he lost his cherry.
And I always wondered why he lied on Oprah. I mean he told a whole bunch of lies to Oprah--why here of all people?
