Curious about the “29 years” she listed in the book title. During a recent interview stated she began doing his hair on the Diamonds And Pearls tour which was 1992. He started with the Afro from 2013 forward, so she was no longer styling his hair by that point, right? If so, that would be 20 yrs - not 29. Not a huge deal, because 20 yrs is still a long time. Just curious as to how it could have been 29 yrs. That would put her with him in the mid to late 80’s and we know Earl Jones was still there.

She said she worked with him on the Afro and he thought it wouldn’t need mich maintenance but it did and they had to moisturize and so forth. I think she was with him until a few years before his passing (please correct me someone if I’m wrong about that) so that would make it more like 1992-2014 perhaps. A little over 20 years.

The last Interview I heard with Kim was funny when she said his eyes would change colors depending on what he was wearing and when she told him that he said, “Yeah. I know, Kim. I know.” Then he’d keep right on talking about whatever. lol

Someone who worked with Prince in the last years of his life told me that he was a very funny man. I think he also made people around him comfortable. You can see all of that in the faces of the women he was close to when they were around him. The joy and laughter, and the comfortableness.

Thanks I was getting ready to correct it! People are ALWAYS trying to discredit Kim. Why would she lie knowing how particular Prince's(r.i.p.) fans are?!

Yes, many stories of his humor and how he loved to laugh and loved when people made him laugh. However, it seems that would depend on his mood. Most have said he was a “mixed bag” and you never knew what you were going to get from him from one day to the next.

Well, Prince fam are sticklers for facts. 1992-2014 or 2015 would be 25 years at most.

I think he was human and on some days felt the brunt of his experiences more, or was solely focused on the work when he had to be. I also believe very strongly that later on when he used medication for his physical pain, that fairly quickly resulted in making his mood swings worse. That’s what happens with those particular medications. It’s hell, and is completely uncontrollable.

In the investigative files, it was said that she hadn't worked with him for 6 years before his death.

Hopefully she'll put the information in the book so it'll make sense. I sure she's heard the question a few dozen times by now, must be a reason she hasn't answered it yet. shrug I'm patient, I guess.

According to Prince Vault she was on the Welcome 2 Australia tour and I was thinking she was still working for him for Welcome 2 Chicago as well. She has a post on her IG kimbonset1 that she was working for him when he did the show with 3RDEYEGIRL at The Palladium in March 2014 and she posted a pic of Prince's Essence magazine cover, implying that she styled him for that. Going by her IG,it looks like she quit sometime after and began working with Katt Williams.

She was actually working with Katt Williams off & on while she was doing Prince.

Oh ok. That's the way it looks by the posts on her IG. Maybe the title '29 Years' is the length of time she's been in the business in general. I wonder if the book will be about only her time with Prince or if she will include a few stories from working with some of her other clients as well.

I remember Morris Hayes saying Prince seriously had like 5 personalities. Each day you weren't sure who was gonna show up. I believe that!

*
Yes, most associates, girlfriends, friends, etc. have said this about him. Susannah said he could be completely cut-off and non-communicative, and there was no discussing what was wrong. You just had to wait it out. Lisa Coleman stated she never knew which guy was coming to rehearsal - the guy who wanted to laugh and have fun like your best friend or the total stranger who was silent and all business.
*
This was discussed on the Mike Judge Show about Prince and The Time. They even stated his moods could change within short periods of time - not just day to day.
*
There were definitely some social quirks and issues there.

Oh really. Not a good look. I thought she made that decision herself.

Just keep in mind that I said "word has it". I was not involved so can not say if it really happened, but it's a very strong likelihood it went down that way.

Why would they shut her down?
That's what Gofundme is for. Whatever. Doesn't have to be a charity.

BUT she'd have been better off to use Kickstarter.
I wonder why no one ever suggested that to het. 😂

I think she's got a lot on her plate, isn't making much money and needs some sensible advice.
I wonder why no one ever tried that, either? 😂

Since I wasn't directly involved I can't say how they were convinced it should be shut down.

She'd have gone a longer way if she was more truthful and didn't seemingly treat others who are much closer to her (than Prince's fans) like she has. Not sure there's anyone else but herself to blame for what's gone on.

I attended Prince's(r.i.p.) 3121 Vegas residency during the NBA All Star Weekend in Vegas. That had a whose who of entertainment & sports figures in attendance.

Yikes. If that release is indicative of the caliber of writing we can expect in the book, it's going to be a hard slog. (Not that I expected anything different.)

Well we have enough books about Prince's impact as a pop culture icon, if she would like us to know about the person he was Im sure it will be respectful and honor his memory. I have always enjoyed reading about Prince's life and career and this book offers a totally new perspective from someone who had a unique relationship with him. Let the girl get her hustle on, we all need to work. I wish her great success with her book.

I vaguely remember that. Hopefully she shared a bit about that time. I watched her Uncovering Prince interview again and had forgotten that she mentioned that Prince spent 6 months in Panama with Liza Hernandez. I'd love to know more about that too.
