I agree.
It seems that Cat is mislead into thinking there is 'Unreleased Footage' ie Outtakes from the film

I think that is why she is responding the way she is

I would see GB played on tv and sold in stores but not SOTT. I would prefer the other way around.

Even if there is unreleased footage, Cat still doesn't own the rights, and it can still be shown. They don't need her permission.

Because the ban had nothing to do with them.

Apollonia Brenda especially were at all the Revolution shows in Sept 2016 on stage. Well Brenda missed the first night. Apollonia was a guest @ Bobby Z's my purple heart show in 2014

These people were banned for something Apollonia did in the museum allegedly against rules.

Ahhh yes, thx. I was thinking of the Rev's request for space, but yes your correct the initial ban was for another reason. Although it is still un fair to ban JJ if she wasn't there when the initial incident went down and if the Rev said Anything that made the ban from PP stick, that is also not ok. My feeling.

It is possible the estate/PP heard of a lot of the gripes JJ put out on social media, and I think she did have a verbal altercation with PP people. And wasn't Kirk at this event? Didn't JJ go off go after Kirk, calling him a liar? I don't know why people are putting the issue on the Revolution, when the Kirk angle could be IT

Where did you hear that she had a verbal altercation with the PP people? The meeting was held with Hucky to specifically address her being kept away from the Revoluion not Kirk. Also in the court docs Kirk has a contract with the estate so I am not sure why everyone thinks he is making decisions at PP? or why if he is this does not distrub people.

Jill is ABSOLUTELY correct and i'm SO GLAD she's speaking up. It kills me how revisionist types fail to mention Prince's (successful)musical associations with Andre Cymone, Dez Dickerson, Jesse Johnson, Morris Day, Sheila E., Levi Seacer, Sonny T./Michael B, Morris Hayes, Kirk Johnson, Tony M., Foley, John Blackwell, Josh Welton and anybody else who's collaborated with Prince who happens to not be white. No disrespect to the white artists and musicians and engineers he worked with, but they can't take all the credit for his growth and artistry. And, real talk, the entities doing the interviews shuld be seeking out all the great folks i mentioned doing interviews where they delve into their collaborative relationships with Prince. Jill NEEDS to write a book because she saw alot and knows alot. I also love the fact that she gave Sheila props too. Many under-estimate Sheila's presence during the Revolution days; she and Juan and some of her band were featured with the Revolution in live performance during the Purple Rain tour(the first hinting at a Counter Revolution), acoustic drums and percussion work and production with Apollonia 6, ATWIAD, Parade. So it wasn't a surprise that she assumed the drum and musical director role during SOTT. Prince DEFINITELY was influenced by and collaborated with more great artists and musicians than Wendy, Lisa, Eric Leeds and Susan Rogers.

Oh stop

no one is failing to mention these other people

Where have U been? So many people are 'tired' of Sheila E right now for all of the stuff she is saying since Prince died.
There are so many articles on the other people mentioned. If you notice most of the people U mentioned were men...
BUT as I told someone else, it is very interesting how too much of everything revolves around 'female associates' and there are a few reasons for that.

It isn't any 'revisionist types' unless U mean mostly female fans teaming with their fav female associates...

If you even look at past discussions about 'favorite proteges' You would think by the responses that protege means 'female associate artists' the Time St Paul Eric Mazarati Madhouse etc are not the usual responses...

What has Sheila E said about Prince since he passed that is bad. I have not seen what single comment about him by her that was in the least big disparging. She would be in her rights to say something since he dogged her but she makes excuses for his behaivor to this day.

The other people are giving scant time on this board and now when I try to post info about the PRN Alumni foundation it is droppied in the the Podcast area when it should be a sticky but my guess is the Dave Hamptons ( you know someone black who knows about the vault because he actually worked in it within the last decade and not 30 years ago ) is not deemed important on this board.

Sheila is a working/touring musician was doing this long before Prince passed and continued to be a talent scout for him for years as well as touring with him until 2012. The people bitching are the people who do not give a crap about the associates who are not W&L.

Who are not even the most successful of the associates.

It's a really good interview with a great perspective on the vault music and how it should/could be handled. Definately worthy of discussion on the main board since, as you say, he was there and worked with P on actual vault material.

No these people are bitching about anyone. They hate the Revolution Sheila E Tyka

I'm talking about the 'reactionary' responses that have been happening since he passed

And they are pretty successful, this has nothing to do with what I'm talking about. It doesn't matter who it is, everyone comes under attack, which is sometimes a part of the Anger process of someones death. The lash out at whoever is available. Hell there were some people who posted saying the fans killed him expecting him to keep going etc

Yeah, Free Speech is never free, there is always a cost.
You can freely say what you want to someone you love, but you better be ready for the consequences of that free speech. Some things once gone out of your mouth cannot be taken back. Lots of broken relationships because people feel free to say whatever they want.

There is a time and place for everything.

There is a time and place for everthing.

Everyone involved, talking about a dearly loved public icon who is no longer here and what is being said about him, in public, knows this. Jill has spoken out about her experiences. All the narratives have been discussed publicly. All of them have "camps". All are impacted by the comments of said camps. You can't siingle Jill out as the only one being "tarnished" or manipulated by those who support her or vice versa. All the parties understand the two-edged sword of public statements. Perhaps that's why P didn't engage in this? He spoke through his music - a one-way conversation.

Yeah you are just argueing. You are not even listening to what I'm saying.
I never said JJ couldn't/shouldn't say anything.

You are being selective in what you read.
In a reply to another member I said it is happening to Cat as well and to other associates usually female. I never single JJ out as the only one. BUT the thread is about JJ FB post.

I said the channel to do it is the problem.
you probably like the rants (that she usually deletes)

It doesn't help her brand.
I want it to go better for her.

If you are speaking of Jill you might take into considration that her relationship with the Rev was not that good to begin with. She does not seem to care about the consequences, who said she is taking anything back, and her time is when she decideds it is her time.

No that was just addressing Free Speech, which a lot of people don't seem to understand
I cannot see how she had a problem with the revolution prior to Sept 2016. There didn't seem to be a problem 2012 @ First Avenue or before, why would there be.
Lisa & Wendy as of March 2016 seemed to support her posting a counter to a post about Jill

.

But yes people do 'regret' what they say. I hope people do or that makes us sociopaths.
Poeple say things/post things on social media or in the public all the time they regret and wish they could take back. Same with intimate relationships.
Do you think Jill wishes she could have taken back when she posted on her FB in agreement with Sinead OConner, refering to Prince as being like 'Chris Brown'?

.

Again and again, I encourage her communicating her desires. But a better avenue than a bunch of self serving fans who seem to only care about either the 'entertainment' aspect of it, or because the live vicariously through her to target the people/person/group they don't like.

You keep bringing up the past 2012 has gone. We are discussing now. People do not going requesting that someone not be in their presence if they are getting along.

Do you see anywhere that Jill has said she regrets anything that she has said? Not regreating something especially if it is true does not make a person a sociopath.

I actually think she does not regret saying it especially if they did get into some sort of altercation or disagreement. It is the truth what is the point of her taking it back. I read to mean that people were making exsuses for Chris and she felt that people made excuses for Prince which the did and still do. Even Prince said he wanted to mentor Chris Brown because he made mistakes when he was young and that people can change. So maybe what Jill said was true and he knew it was true dude was no saint when he was a young man.

Althought Sinead is a nutball. I cannot speak for anyone else but I do not find anything entertaining about any of this and no one is living vicariously throught anyone. You always flip the stituation on to the fans having a problem when the Melvoins or the Revolution come into play.

Susannah is selling some old legwarmers Prince gave her it is sad and pathetic that she cannot move on.

If you are speaking of Jill you might take into considration that her relationship with the Rev was not that good to begin with. She does not seem to care about the consequences, who said she is taking anything back, and her time is when she decideds it is her time.

Let's encourage free speech and the truth.

Yep! If people read that rolling stone mag interview prince said nothing is unforgivable.

This is all about the past

YOU said in post #106 go back and read, because U have a hard time following the flow

So in replying to that, we have to talk about 'the past' even if it it 2months ago or 2 years ago, to see where this 'not that good to begin with' connects. You have no real proof that that is true.

.

No dude, I'm talking about the whole picture. What happened with certain associate women vs Mayte has nothing to do with the Melvoins or the Revolution. Stop distracting.

You know dam well from right after Prince passed there were fan going after various women who spoke up or talked about Prince. This is not about the revolution. They went after and still do: Apollonia Sheile E Wendy Jill Cat Mayte Mani Judith and many many others. Stop acting like you don't know what I'm talking about.

.

Look, I'm not even judging her on what she said, I read it. She compared Prince to Chris Brown as in 'abusive' She deleted it later, because she probably regreted it. Which is my point.

.

So is Eric, personal assistants and others.

I thought getting rid of stuff was moving on. Isn't that what people do when someone passes away.
I have neighbor, whose father passed 5yrs ago, he has 1/2 the house still full of things. And his grandmother passed away long before that and the attic and basement is still full of her things.
Or have you not known anyone personal in your life who has died?

Getting rid of an ex's stuff is like ... the definition of moving on.

.

Yeah, they're ratty old legwarmers, but apparently, they're part of the outfit from his first live shows, if you read the description (and if I recall correctly).

.

If you think about them that way, they're not too dissimilar from selling stage-used gear like Sheila is doing (which is something I don't think either of us expressed a problem with).
