Nope. Prince must have seen what they are doing and is now pretending to give them the rights to their name again. biggrin

#Trendin is on iTunes. I was on the fence when I first heard the clips, but I actually like it. The fellas can play, especially Monte's little 'solo'. And Jerome is a nut. LOL

I could easily seem the band playing this live.

Bought it. Downloaded it. Enjoying it... a lot. Monte Moir's brief "sexy Bock Rogers space disco solo" will make me buy the extended version (record I mean) when it becomes available.

All hail the fat synth stabs!

thanks for the link and I have to say that the review is spot on i.e. corny as hell, very funky and super catchy - I can't get the hook out of my head. The Time cannot change their sound into say Jay Z or Kanye over night. They have a clear identity and sound and in this fun track they keep the classic Time groove and update it slightly. Yes it's a little corny but it's fun and catchy and works really well as an advert for the album.

Well done guys!. Lets give them and Fdeluxe a tonne of love and all our support, whatever your thoughts are about the songs these projects are as much about artistic freedom and stepping out from the purple shadow.

the lyrics are very corny and so so wide of the mark...

original 7ven - followers on twitter = 1318

wendy & lisa = 13,452

sheila e = 27,233

kanye west = 4,503,098

justin timberlake = 6,147,013

justin bieber = 12,972,224

yeah the beats are funky, the tune is catchy, but the subject matter...i don't think so. there are more people live in barbourmeade kentucky than follow THE TIME / Original 7ven on twitter.

What are the Twitter stats suppose to imply? Bieber, Justin and Kanye would have more followers than Prince because of the demographics of the people who use Twitter.

Let's stop the hating and support the fellas.

i'm not a hater - i love THE TIME & have been a fan for 30 years.

i'm implying the lyrics of the song don't fit - nobody is talking about THE TIME on twitter - but the song implies they have a huge following - would you call 1318 a lot of people? i know john does with more followers...

i'm sure the new album as a whole will deliver in spades - but i think they are trying to be too current with this track. if it was a huge global mainstream superstar making a comeback (george michael for arguements sake) i'd get it - but an underground funk group from the 80s with only a hardcore fan base? i don't think so.

I haven't peeped all of the lyrics yet, but they aren't saying they're necessarily trending on Twitter, are they? I thought it was just trending in general. The term "trending" is not exclusive to Twitter.

On Cool when Morris sang he had a penthouse in Manhattan, that was not the case either. Neither when he sang his limo was custom painted plaid.

Morris won that penthouse playing monopoly - and the other two in Malibu - .....ok maybe I'm taking things a little too serious these days. Thanks for making me see things differently.

Wasn't it St.Paul Peterson who sang that his limo was custom painted plaid? )High Fashion(

I guess the song is growing on me a little bit, but I am slightly throwed at the moment +I am still waiting for a full blown funk jam, not a modern pop single.

Yes, I think you are right.

All of the fun cocky Prince songs of that era run together in my mind sometimes. For a minute I thought it might have been from Jerk Out, then I though, no? it's Movie Star? but I am sure you are right.

Ok, the song is catchy & humorous; lol @ 'you like the 12" inch & I"m not talking about a record'. (Morris, you're old, it'll take tons of Viagra for you to pull that!)

But the video is HORRENDOUS with all of the out of focus, lens racking (zoom in/out) & fast cuts, it hurt my eyes & gave me motion sickness. Yes, I'm old too. lol But seriously, part of the fun of this group is WATCHING them and that was way too choppy to enjoy.

I wish them the best of luck with the album and look forward to hearing the rest!

Well no, because if you notice now, the hash tag symbol has evolved beyond Twitter. It's even been used/said in video comments from somebody or in an email or in a comment section of an article or post. So, the hash tag is no longer exclusive to Twitter.

But now that I've heard the entire song, I did hear Morris say "Tweet it up, y'all!," so he's definitely talking about Twitter too. Ahh whatever! It's definitely got a hook, and I can see Tom Joyner and Michael Baisden playing this a few times. They're album release date is less than a month away, but I don't think they've put enough buzz out about their reunion. I'm hoping to see them on Leno, Letterman, definitely Fallon, and making a few more appearances as well. Let them show Prince how to run a REAL PR campaign. Hopefully. wink

Considering the lyrics refer specifically to Twitter, I think it's safe to say that's the intention.
