THE TIME now call themselves THE ORIGINAL 7VEN

First single "TRENDING" from the album "CONDENSATE" will be available as a download on Sept. 20.

You can listen to a snippet on Amazon.

That "snippet'' sounds too much like NSYNC or one of those boy bands. Will hold off for full album before critique.

Prince did an interview with a woman at Record World. They talked about whatever, then he asked her: "Does your pubic hair go up to your navel?" At that moment, we thought maybe we shouldn't encourage him to do interviews.

Good lord.

I was so appalled by their new name that I didn't even notice the name of the album. "Condensate"? Seriously?

Why not just call it "Ignant" and be done. disbelief

I like the name. Good to see they changed it. Now they can put anything out and sound like anything they like without any baggage.

The Amazon snip? It's immediately catchy. It sounds very retro-contemporary like most music aimed at the youngsters today. Catchier and more contemporary than anything Prince has released lately. His 20Ten (with exception of the ballads) and MNPSound stuff is just over the top atrocious.

Wish them nothing but the best.

No matter what, I'll buy the new LP. That said, the "Trendin" sample is weak. Hope it's not the best on the set...

That is absolutely mental. That should be said about this snippet, not Prince's albums. This snippet is pretty bad and sounds like Will.i.Am shit. Ol Skool Company, Laydown, Dance 4 Me, Sticky Like Glue, No More Candy, Beginning Endlessly are the complete opposite of what you said. They are Prince still on top and telling us why you don't fuck with him....and that's just a few tracks from 2 of 3 albums released in the last 2 years.

That's not what i said. My opinion of 20ten as a whole, basically, a good throwback album. Nothing special. But certain highlighted tracks are special indeed.

Well, we are going to disagree here. The songs you mentioned are the embodiment of atrocious to me. But hey, we all have different tastes, nothing wrong with that.

Prince still on top? On top of what? The rocks of his rock bottom maybe, but that would be about it (well, that and his could-be daughter Andy Allo). disbelief

Instead of the tired, lame 'let's slag off Prince every time associated artists' realease anything' why not focus on the damn thread i.e. what do we think of the new single 'trendin'?

I think it's quite catchy, pretty mainstream, but hope it does well. I'll hold full judgement until I hear the whole track.

I have to disagree that the sound is anything new though.

Why can't everyone just focus on the song?

The snippet is no good.

Morris' vocals are still on point, but I'm not really feeling the groove.

The chorus is weak as well.

I hope the rest of the album doesn't sound like this but I'm already prepared for a major disappointment.

EXACTLY! I don't understand why some people feel the need to start a Prince versus Associated Artists war EVERYTIME one of them drop an album. Why can't we just appreciate them all for still providing us with music and just enjoy the ride. I'm looking for to the Original 7Ven's new release. Been waiting for this far too long! cool

Yeah,I think we need to be patient and wait until we hear the ENTIRE song. You can't judge a song based on a little snippet.

Oh, I think when we hear the same line repeated over and over for the entire clip, we can pretty much figure what's coming. lol

I actually like the chorus. It's Morris' vocals that are throwing me off a bit.

The snippet doesn't thrill me but I didn't get the "Oh hell no!" face, either.

So I guess I'll reserve final jugement to after I hear the rest of the song and the album.

I'll be buying it, even if the whole thing is a load of crap.

They've had to wait entirely too damn long for the opportunity to do their thing, their way and we all know why. So I'm going to support their efforts. That is until they give me one too many "Oh hell no!" faces.

WHAT TIME IS IT? cool

The new single sounds like Morris Day singing an Usher track. What next? A guest spot on The X Factor?

The Band Formerly Known As “The Time” Returns With New Music! Listen Now!

The Original 7ven. Promo Photo

Yes! "The Time" is finally releasing new music. One problem; they are no longer called "The Time" but "The Original 7ven" instead. Hmm.

We have no idea why they are no longer going by "The Time" unless the rumors of Prince owning the name "The Time" and not letting them use it for new music they are recording.

I don't understand Prince's reasoning for it since they have been using it for the past 30 years but I guess we will get into that another time.

When I spoke to all 7 original members of "The Time"....I mean "The Original 7ven" they told me that they and Prince were cool. I mostly spoke to Morris Day and Jerome Benton, but nothing came up about the name change.

For now, "The Time"..we mean "The Original 7ven" are releasing new music for the first time in 2 decades! The CD "Condensation" comes out in October and the new song "#Trendin" comes out September 20th!

"7ven" is obviously a dig at Prince's Lotusflow3r, same with "formerly known as"

As for the song, it's catchy. Maybe too catchy in a "Macarena" or "Barbie Girl" sort of way.

Sounds like a 90's New Jack leftover though. It sounds a little teenie bopperish but it'ok. The subject matter is relevant as everyone seems to be tweeting lately, but will it make it make people cringe when the fad is over? Will it date the song too much? Maybe.

As long as the next single is not about Facebook or MySpace, it can be forgiven. But it sounds fun.
