As if this is the only sort of song or sound they have. But Prince needs SOMEONE who will tell him what sucks and what doesn't. This stuff sounds more like what I would hear on alt or college radio. Musically far more progressive then the tired sounds Prince is hammering out these days.

progressive? hahah

this is easy listening alt light rock.

I said more progressive than Prince is these days. Which it is.
Check the whole album. Much more interesting than P's current output imo.

I tell ya... once again, Wendy & Lisa serve Prince's fans better than he does himself. Respectful, grateful interaction. This is how it should be done.

Come on people lets be fair. I know the way Prince irritates people on here (And elsewhere!) that he is a money grabber-has no respect etc. However there is a big difference between P and W&L. firstly and not to be too cynical W&L have to be nicer to their fans. Prince as everybody should may need to show more respect but to a large degree he doesnt have to, on a basic level he will always get some attention that will pay the bills but more importantly the arrogance and air of removal is an essential part of his persona. There is a thread on here about him at the 1992 world Music Awards sucking his lollipop, the general consensus is that people miss that arrogant Prince. Well I think we will struggle to get both dont you. And again to be fair Prince has done that fan level thing before anyway.I dont expect or want Prince to be my best friend. Part of the joy of having a favourite artist is to simply observe and enjoy what they have to offer. That comes at a financial price, which I am willing to pay (ignore the website thing) and in the main offers me a lot of happiness for my cash

Never said anything about wanting to be Prince's friend. I think it's interesting that you equate excellence with arrogance.

I mentioned respectful, grateful interaction. A LOT of musical acts manage to do that without necessarily befriending their market. You say "ignore the website thing" but it stands as the chief example of how Prince flirts with the most relevant medium for an artist and his financial base yet fails to deliver quality service to that base.

I think ripping subscribers off (and the Lotus forum here is full of people saying they've been screwed) is disrespectful and the sort of service an ungrateful artist would deliver. Sure, W&L are nowhere near as popular but -- as Kat (whom it's always nice to see at the Org, by the by) said -- it's about a longtime ability by them as artists to show respect to their fans and act sensibly.

I think Prince is a phenomenal performer. I don't think that gives him a pass to act the way he does to the people who've supported him. Do you?

i get really tired of the divisive attitudes i see on this site constantly.

you know what? it's possible to appreciate prince for who and what he is, and it's possible to AT THE SAME TIME appreciate wendy & lisa for who and what they are.

if you like one, you're not betraying the other by liking both. honest.

prince and W&L are on different paths these days, artistically, philosophically, professionally. prince is probably one of the last true, real POP ICONS we're ever going to see, and he continues to embody that status. that means there is a distance between him and his fans, but on the other hand he offers an experience through his concerts and albums that is still that of a huge pop superstar. meanwhile, wendy & lisa are operating on another level, one that's more down to earth and accessible, and they're more hands-on in how they communicate with their fans. they don't want to be seen as pop music superhero mythological beings, but rather as people who really enjoy sharing what they do. i don't think prince has a problem with how W&L conduct their careers, and i don't think W&L have a problem with prince's icon status. so what's OUR problem?

so W&L have made some barbed comments about prince here and there? well, so what! they were part of his family, and sometimes family bitches about each other. they've also said many times that they still love him to death and care about him. on the other hand, there have been reports and discussions out the wazoo about prince condemning W&L for their sexuality, yet he still contacts them from time to time to perform and record with him.

it sounds like they have things worked out a whole lot better with each other than the fans do. so again...what's OUR problem? confuse

I appreciate your comments in this regard.

It is my fault that I approched the topic with the response given.
I am bewildered at comments that have been heaved at me in the tone that I have gotten.

I have been coming to this site since the beginning and in the last 7 years the tone has gotten worse. At the present time it has become toxic.

What can be done ?

God bless.

It is sad that a large group of orgers are fixated on charts and numbers regarding the artists they supposedly support. We should be past the point of needing validation to back an artist. Considering the length of the careers of Prince & All of the Associated Artists you would think that wouldn't be a factor anymore. I never cared if any of them sold millions or got recognized by the world just as long as they kept making music for me to enjoy.
When eye go 2 a Prince concert or related event it's all heart up in the house but when eye log onto this site and the miasma of bitchiness is completely overwhelming!

Eb. It's cyclical. Over the last 11-12 years it seems to get more toxic in spurts, then back off.

Personally, I think remaining civil and keeping the discourse about ideas and concepts -- in other words, about principles rather than personalities -- helps. The more we avoid ad honinem attacks, the more it helps.

But that's just one opinion.

I don't like the song or the video but it was nice that they let some fans be in the video.

I know for a fact if Prince did a video like this people would not like it. The video is not that great. Sorry.

Didn't like the video. Way too random. Yes they let fans be in it, which was nice, but it just didn't work for me.

Don't like the song either, reminds me of the U2 "Put on on your Boots" song that I hate.

I like the video. ...I own the CD (and vinyl) and I'm not a fan of the song. But the video was worth the effort. A great concept and a cool way to involve your fans.

W&L have it exactly right IMO. They cut out the middle men and they can be themselves. They made a record they are proud of and sold it DIRECTLY to their audience. Now they are servicing their fans with involvement. I AM a fan but it took them coming on the org and doing that Q & A before I was motivated to get off my ass and buy their new material. Their extra attention to detail earned my $$$. That's what is all about in this age for an INDY project.

They don't need one million you tube views or to sell even 50,000 records.

This is a nice model that many artists should embrace.

I'm starting to really like it! The video is funny as hell, it's a cool gesture and the song is getting better and better.
And I really don't state this because I'm in it, I could be easily missed.

It was okay with me but my computer wouldn't play it like it should and it wouldn't stop for it to totally upload. I must admit that it is not my cup of tea on first listen and then I just listened to it in its abrupt method. Although I understand why there is so much animosity amongst the different factions on here. Cause you have the Prince can do nothing right people on one side praising this and the W & L fans who think that is the best that ever been put on record and then you have the Prince die hards that will fight anyone who thinks that they should defend Prince against any and all comers even his former bandmates and then you have Bart!!! But it was okay for me but I will have to listen to it on another computer so I can really listen to it in its fullness. With that being said I still love the new output by Prince and nothing and no one can change that opinion but I understand that some of you want Prince to put out the music that is in your head to which you should just make it yourself. I am just going to listen to his version until you put yours out and then maybe just listen to yours.
