I just don't think she should be saying she is doing this to edify God. I don't think soft porn is edifying God. Just my opinion.

Ya think??? falloff lol

I TOTALLY enjoyed the articulate and insightful debate on this thread. I applaude Rhondab for her civility throughout this thread. She continued to express herself in an articulate manner even though I think a lot of folks missed or misunderstood her point repeatedly. I appreciate you keeping your eye on the big picture and mentioning the fact that the continued overt objectification of black women is not needed to promote yourself.

I ain't mad at Robin, she's still a bad girl. But sistas continue to be viewed as one dimensional, sexual creatures and sometimes, as a black woman, you do feel like, "Enough is enough!" Although it may be liberating for Robin herself to display and "promote" herself as she does, which she's totally entitled to do, it's often the rest of us (black women) that pay the price for that liberation and method of sexual expression.

its the narcissistic personality disorder statement that crossed the line. you can dislike the art, question the cultural impact, debate the merit of the art but we don't get personal. robin is a member of this sites community (like it or not) and the protection against personal attacks apply to all of us (robin included).

Oh, PLEASE rolleyes To say, "I think you posted these pictures because you're narcissitic" is no worse than some of the member attacks that I've seen that weren't snipped--people being told to stfu and the finger emoticons and all the other nastiness. Everybody *ain't* being "protected". rolleyes

Well I guess I'm finally going to open up my big mouth (just this once)...

I understand what you both are trying to say, what many of you are trying to say, actually. But I noticed that a vital point here seems to be missed over and over throughout this thread: however it came out as a post, Rhondab is not making a superficial assertion that Robin is showing her stuff here merely because she is narcissicistic (which subesequently would make her appear to be a 'hater'). If I recall correctly, Rhondab is a person who actively works in the trenches to give of herself and empower women from all walks of life. Her post, pointed as it may have sounded, is directed toward deeper issues that were unearthed over a long period of time in prior Power threads, orgnotes between other orgers, band members etc.,----there is a long and deeply complicated (and at times touching) history behind these exchanges (on this thread and its' predacessors) that sadly seem to be dismissed too simplistically by some of the newer contributors to the topic. And it most certainly isn't a simple story of black vs.white, art vs. trash, I like myself and you're jealous, good girl vs.bad girl, it's so much deeper and more humanistic than that... but anyhooo- carry on, Y'all: that's all I can give for this round. Peace.

SOS, you've been trying to change the way TAMAR dresses for the past 18 months. Stop being such a booty!

At the end of it all, and this is why I actually think that last pic is funny, it is her life. Seeds don't grow over night. Now someone else has to water this flower. I don't say anything to Robin out of hate. NOTHING cuz her bod is still banging and I do appreciate her art.

and hush up SCNDLS lol and mwah to Ottensen because she does know the backstory and also was involved.

True statement.. and thanks for eloquently stating a differnt point of view.
I agree, the rest of us are judged by the actions of the famous few. Like it or not.

nod No disrespect to Robin because I don't know her, but I agree with Rhonda, SCDLS and prodigalfan in the sense that there are some women who while they know they are sexy, would rather be judged by their content and not the container.

at first glance, I thought it was a negative print... but then the irises and the whites of the eyes would have been opposite as well.

maybe a negative print with alterations to the eyes??

very interesting. I would like to know how you achieved this print.

I'mma be done with this BUT I have to say: it's kind of amazing that simply asking someone to think critically for one second automatically gets boiled down to "hate", despite all the compliments lol I mean come on folks - is it really that simple? Is it so offensive to ask someone to just *think*?

Hell, I guess it's just easier to react instead, huh? bananadance

I, personally, haven't said that it is hateful, but it always makes me wonder about a person's head when they want others to "think" like they do, and don't accept that someone's 'art' may not always be what they would personally create. To try to reign in or shape an artist is a fool's game and an unfortunate sign of someone who wants the world in their own personal box. I don't think that they were hatin' on Robin necessarily, it seems like they are dealing with their own private issues about others in a public forum and not realizing how intolerant they sound. This is probably just an isolated incident, and I'm sure they didn't intend to come off like they did.

I felt the same way back in the 1980s when Tipper Gore wanted Prince to clean up his lyrics. Certain people just don't like images that they can't control, and don't get it when someone else likes something they don't.

It's art people! It's ROBIN's art.

As I said, the rest of us will continue to enjoy Robin's music, her words, her pictures, her insights and her presence here on the org.

Your post just makes too much sense.
