If Robin wishes to speak about past relationships (for whatever reason), that's her own choice. We've all disclosed private information about our offline relationships with others from time to time. So what if one of her exes is Prince? If talking about him does get Robin's work more attention, that can only be a good thing. It's not like she's pimped Prince out by writing a book about him. Wouldn't that be worse? 03. Your incessant criticism of her business is bordering on the obsessive. i have to agree and question what good a public scolding will do...in the end, is your point being heard by robin when its being delivered in such a critical and parental tone? and if you have shared your concerns with robin in private well...isn't that the more appropriate form of discussion? after all these threads are not supposed to turned personal. and you and others here on this thread have really really turned things personal against robin... Word! SupaFunky is right on! I thought that this forum was above soft-core porn...The videos that Ms. Power has on her Myspace page are nasty...PERIOD! I really don't think that ANYONE should post lewd pics unless they are willing to hear that people are GROSSED OUT by them! It has NOTHING to do with Prince, art, OR music. It's a pathetic attempt to suck on the teet (no pun intended) of the Paisley past. facebook.com/jackmitz

im not saying that you can't judge or critique. I am saying throwing out somebody's mental stability is not discussion fodder. two totally different things. Power tends to corrupt and absolute power corrupts absolutely.

ughhh!!! don't add on to super's comments when he is using misinterpreting my original statement. You suggested private discussion and honestly if someone is going to be posting these pics, which I have absolutely no problem with, then really they are inviting praise and yes criticism. I actually think it was very responsible for Rhonda to mention the alternatives to how the presentation is being given. The black community already has to deal with so much shit without the "ho" factor being thrown out there. It sounds to me that she has something more than just a pair of tits to offer and Robin seems to be big girl who can handle her shit. On a moral level I have no issue with her "art", but that aint all there is in the world. Maybe that's where she finds the most success and I won't say it's wrong if that works for her, but at the same time the praise is coming from one place and that is from between someone's legs. I'm sure she's aware of that too. I don't see the discussion that has come from this as a bad thing. 2009: Mermaids and Dolphins...

Look, is the discussion really any different than the ones we have about overt sexuality during pride or in our publications? Maybe you are correct about videos not being able to be "air-brushed," mabybe not, but at the same time your video(s) basically put out the same vibe that those pictures do. What do you base your worth on? Is fame really that important to you? Just as Rhondab has stated I as well am not trying to be critical to your character because I dont know you as a person. But the way that you present yourself Robin with those pics.....well they make you seem somewhat lacking substance. Just my opinion.....God bless you as well. I just thought of something else. You know, when Prince was on stage and acting very sexual, he was able to pass that off because the music he was showcasing, while speaking of sex, had a deeper message. It said something. It relayed something besides sex. Art that has an enduring quality to it, that will last for generations, is a piece of work by the artist that says something, that implies a message of some kind, and that people can interpret in ways that mean something to them. It is a piece of work that people can relate to on many different levels. And that is what makes Prince's music stand out above the rest, because it is true art.

Not true. Discourtesy and rudeness to other members has always been frowned-upon here. In any case, nobody is being censored, "kicked out" or "deleted" by the moderators. The irony is, that it was Rhonda whom inferred that another member (Robin) shouldn't make posts of a certain nature (those being her promotional photos or discussing her relationship with Prince)... I've not said that Rhonda or anybody else shouldn't offer their opinion - only that I personally find the belligerence of that opinion obsessive. There's a difference between a rationalised critique and simply putting someone down. Robin has obviously put a lot of work into her photos, painting, music and videos. How does having more than one website equate to a narcissistic disorder? I'm sure that many of the members here, whom post in the Org Artist Community thread, each have a MySpace; a YouTube account; a GarageBand account; a CDBaby account etcetera... Talking of which, why is it only Robin's art which is criticised so harshly? Why don't some of you pop over to the Org Artist Community thread and diss those members' efforts too? There is a time and place to offer (constructive) criticism - and here and now isn't the time or place to criticise Robin. It's like a friend giving birth to (what you perceive as) an ugly child. I'd like to think that you wouldn't tell the mother that you find her child ugly - but that's what you're doing with Robin's "baby". And finally, Robin isn't representing the whole Black Community. She's representing herself - literally. I'm in awe of what she's accomplished so far without the assistance of a Media Company or Sugar Daddy to bank-roll her. As a gay man, my praise for Robin isn't coming from "between my legs" as Supa suggested. p.s. I still admire and respect Supa and Stymie enormously. I just think you're both wrong this time. I'm sorry.

But Robin girl, when you post these pictures of yourself, or the music you are trying to sell, there is no deeper message. It can only be interpreted in one way and one way only. Prince may have taught you about sexuality, about expressing yourself on stage in a sexual way, but I think he neglected to teach you a very important part of that, which is to say something that will have some kind of meaning to those that hear it, a meaning that is contrary to what you appear to be selling, or a meaning that people can interpret in their own way. I think this is why I like your artwork, because it exhibits something much deeper than surface stuff. It is *that* which will have a more enduring quality because people can relate to it on different levels. But when you exhibit "art" that only allows one level of interpretation, it doesn't last because eventually people move on, that interpretation loses interest for them because they grow and change. But if the interpretation can grow and change with them, they'll take that art with them rather than leaving it behind.
