Prince tribute concert go... revealed!

Surprise news arrived late Thursday: A long-rumored/massive Prince tribute concert will go down Oct. 13 at Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul, not at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis as previously thought.

City Pages just got confirmation from Xcel spokesperson Jora Bort -- this is for real!

Here's the lineup: Stevie Wonder, Christina Aguilera, Chaka Khan, John Mayer, Tori Kelly, Anita Baker, Doug E. Fresh, Luke James, Bilal, Mint Condition, Morris Day & the Time, Judith Hill and Liv Warfield, the New Power Generation featuring Morris Hayes plus members of 3RDEYEGIRL.

Tickets go on sale 10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 19 via the Xcel box office and Ticketmaster.com. Ticket prices were not made immediately available. MORE

Maybe they will be adding names to the line-up. But just Chaka Khan, Stevie Wonder, Bilal, Mint Condition, Anita Baker, Morris Day and The Time is quite a line-up. I have a feeling they will be adding The Revolution and maybe a few others.

They could add names until the list circled the globe 7 times, and I'd still wouldn't be hearing what I want to hear. I was under the impression this is supposed to be a memorial for the fans not a concert. If this is a concert taking place in MN, then these threads are basically a waste of time for me and those like me.

It was always billed as a Tribute Concert. They could have (and SHOULD have) done a memorial weeks ago. I'd say, this is it.

All of this is basically pointless to a huge percentage of Prince fans.

Exactly! We have all been on pins and needles waiting for SOMETHING and we finally got it. I'm holding out hope they can televise it for those of us that can't make it or don't get tickets but I think we should stop with all the bitching and complaining and try to move forward. If someone can't do that they need to move off the thread in my opinion.

True. And I see that Liv Warfield is named, but no mention of Shelby J. Surely, she will be there. I think I saw her mention it on her FB some time ago. John Blackwell will be missed. I sure wish they could donate a portion of the proceeds for his treatment and recovery.
