They could add names until the list circled the globe 7 times, and I'd still wouldn't be hearing what I want to hear. I was under the impression this is supposed to be a memorial for the fans not a concert.

Where did you get that from? It was always billed as a tribute concert. confused

yeahthat Plus, no need to gripe about it. If this doesn't meet your vision of this event, and you are no longer interested, don't go. Easy smile

True. And I see that Liv Warfield is named, but no mention of Shelby J. Surely, she will be there. I think I saw her mention it on her FB some time ago. John Blackwell will be missed. I sure wish they could donate a portion of the proceeds for his treatment and recovery.

Yeah if Shelby isn't there than something is seriously f'd up. To me there were essentially 3 incarnations of NPG - the original lineup in the early 90s, the Musicology band and the Welcome 2 band. I'm hoping we get representation from all three.

I agree that Shelby should be there. Then again, if we are talking that Shelby should be there, shouldn't Tamar also be there? Am very surprised no mention of Andy Allo though - or does she count in 3rd eye girl?

Also, I'd love a MIXED Revolution - blending then and the Revolution2.0, and same for NPG.

I'm not all that familiar with John Mayer either. I do know who he is tho smile Can someone explain his connection 2 P?

I guess because he's supposed to be a big deal among guitarists.

John Mayer is just a big fan. And probably the reason why he's on the bill.

He's always played P covers when on tour.

I'm happy for those that are going. And yes, who is Tori Kelly? I hope they add others.

Tori Kelley was part of the BET tribute of Prince (though I personally am not in the know to say how she is connected).

Wonder why Janelle Monae isn't going to be there - that was a surprise to me.

Yes. Andy Allo would be great too. I still think it will be a great show. Probably won't satisfy the die hards but then I suspect nobody but the man himself could do that anyway. wink

Having Anita Baker there man I am a huge fan of hers. And also she is doing well for herself financially and she knew how to invest her money as I think as I read she didn't like to do a whole lot of touring and plus she want to raise her son or children so that is why she stayed in and out of music business even at her prime. She also wrote some of her own hit songs and ching ching that what helped her nicely. I can see her will sang some good Prince's r&b and slower songs. She is also private like Prince is and I think I read in an interview after prince death she talked about his kindness.

But anyway, this lineup is very impressive to me and I think Prince would have been please. Very diversity of musicians just like the music that Prince gave us.

I would like to see Shelby J and Andy Allo and I have a gut feeling we are going to see more people added.

Yes I'd like to see Andy there because she and Prince were so close. A bit interesting that Liv Warfield was specifically called out. Isn't she considered part of NPG? But if it's the 91-93 band performing and Liv was specifically called out it makes me think that maybe Shelby, Elisa, Cassie might not be there. That would be a serious bummer.

I'm happy as is but would like to see andre specifically on the list. And wish they didn't have performers who have absolutely no connection to prince. There are so many great musicians and entertainers that he did work directly with they shouldn't need to book people his fans have never even heard of. But I'll take what I can get at this point. It's been too long already for a proper goodbye.

That's the right attitude. What's important is celebrating P's life and legacy. And, I would not be at all surprised if they add more names to the line-up.

This is very strange. I don't know why this entire quote is attributed to me. All I said was "Exactly!" The rest was written by someone else. This is not the first time I have noticed this happening in the past few days. Then, when I tried to respond directly to the quote, it would not show that part of the thread in the response window. That's why I have copied and pasted it here. It's very disconcerting. I do not use such a harsh tone and I certainly don't use profanity on this board. I'm hoping this splicing was accidental, and that it will not happen again.

Liv released a solo CD after the NPG. She played several shows at Paisley Park and a couple at the Dakota. Prince was Executive Producer on her CD. Luke James opened for Liv at the Dakota shows. Prince was in attendance, but did not perform.

Oh interesting. I did not know that. Now we have a better idea of why he's involved. I wish we knew if Shelby was going to be there. If I knew for sure she wasnt going to be there I'd have second thoughts about getting tickets. I would love to hear her sing Misty Blue. She sang it at the family memorial in August.

I keep thinking back to the BET tribute in 2010. Nobody was really crazy about that list of performers and they were chosen by Prince himself! I am hopeful that maybe a few more artists will be announced or maybe there will be some surprise guests. Just a shame that there seems to be tension between Sheila and the estate. Booking that concert with Morris Day only two days later and then reminding people of it last night on Twitter comes across as a big middle finger to the estate.

Who would have thought.

15 years after sitting and watching him during his soundcheck on the side seats on the right side of the stage and then asking him questions at the Excel Energy Center in St Paul in June 2001 at the Second CELEBRATION Rainbow Children We would now be attending his memorial A CELEBRATION of LIFE and Music at the same VENUE October 13th, 2016.

It does not make sense....only 15 years. I Treasure that I grabbed the chance the first time.

Now it means even more to pay my respect.

I was just thinking that. It will be strange to return to the same venue.

It appears to me that a lot of the Prince tributes seem to reduce Prince to just a funk/soul/r&b singer. Why are there no tributes from any rock-artists?

Honestly happy to see that this was pulled together and glad the venue changed. The lineup is ok with me as well, but I am hoping for a few suprises (Revolution, Mavis, Stehpanie Mills).

The one name I am really tripping on is Anita Baker......I don't know what to say. I have made my mind up to go just on that one name alone.

Is Anita Baker a Prince fan???? Is there anyway we can get her to sing Caught up in the Rapture????

Beautiful, Loved and Blessed

Thank You Prince
