There's nothing to represent the fact that Prince was loved by people in other countries. How about some international artists?

Yeah if Shelby isn't there than something is seriously f'd up. To me there were essentially 3 incarnations of NPG - the original lineup in the early 90s, the Musicology band and the Welcome 2 band. I'm hoping we get representation from all three.

Elisa needs to be there too!

Yes. Andy Allo would be great too. I still think it will be a great show. Probably won't satisfy the die hards but then I suspect nobody but the man himself could do that anyway. wink

Surprise news arrived late Thursday: A long-rumored/massive Prince tribute concert will go down Oct. 13 at Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul, not at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis as previously thought.

City Pages just got confirmation from Xcel spokesperson Jora Bort -- this is for real!

Here's the lineup: Stevie Wonder, Christina Aguilera, Chaka Khan, John Mayer, Tori Kelly, Anita Baker, Doug E. Fresh, Luke James, Bilal, Mint Condition, Morris Day & the Time, Judith Hill and Liv Warfield, the New Power Generation featuring Morris Hayes plus members of 3RDEYEGIRL.

Tickets go on sale 10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 19 via the Xcel box office and Ticketmaster.com. Ticket prices were not made immediately available. MORE

I will take Chaka, Bilal, Mint, Mo'iss and the fellas, Judith, Liv, Mo and the NPG 'dem for the win Alex. biggrin

Prince, in you I found a kindred spirit...Rest In Paradise.

Very impressed with the lineup I thought it was going to be a bootleg one lol. Anita Baker, John Mayer, and Christina A and my girl Chaka Khan(I hope she is doing well and Stevie Wonder. So excited about Anita Baker yay.....

So happy that people are now going to the tribute, the ones who booked traveling plans and plus PP tour I hope that you guys have a good experience and get your money's worth.

Now I would like to be televised can I get a closure because I need it and so far despite all the fab tributes I am still havent gotten the closure I want? razz If so then I am going to take back some of the things what I said about Londell, sort of lol.

I know. I had hoped that ALL of the original members of The Time would be there. But I still think it's a great line-up, especially considering the fact that, just a day ago, it looked like the whole thing was falling apart.

Sheila went from 'Musical Director' to not performing.

Larry went from 'best friend' to not performing.

Read into that what you will, but its clear to me that Estate is in a bad way. I don't blame Tyka or even the fame clingers like Londell and Questlove, I blame Prince for not sorting a will.

Me too. I LOVE the fellas. Ah well, spose you're right, least it's still on & I like at least half the performers.

It's not Sonny, Bland & Hayes tho is it? It's the NPG plus Hayes...sounds like the later NPG 2 me

It's Morris, Sonny, Michael and barbaella. It's the 1993-1995 NPG.

I wonder why Sheila E isn't going to be there.
It also occurred to me that maybe Andy Allo and some other of Prince's more recent protΓ©gΓ©s might be too emotional to play. Or they're not considers big enough stars - if he latter is the case this isn't about stardome; it's about Prince.

Looks like a good lineup though. I was happy and smiles when I first saw it and thought, "Finally! We're doing right by you."

Now I am starting to get a little spoiled and want more πŸ™‚

I think it would be great if they sold official memorabilia which funds the estate. That could be a bigger dollar maker than anything, and I do care about that for furthering Prince's legacy.

Also I am really, really hoping there is a moment of silence and a prayer.

Lastly, I hope they televise it at some point. Even if they don't announce that until afterwards. That would enlarge Prince's legacy and satisfy those who can't go for whatever reason: illness, finances, conflicting schedules.

I'm so happy about this! Londel came through. THANK YOU and on behalf of Prince in my heart, Thank You again.

Keep up the good work πŸ’œπŸ’œ

My ideal tribute lineup would be: The revolution (with Andre, Dez, Brownmark, and Lisa lead on many songs), the time all the members past and present, Jill Jones, Sheila E, Appollonia 6, the NPG band, 3rdeyegirl, of course Chaka Khan, Anita Baker, Bilal and maybe some local Minni acts who know some Prince songs because Prince is know to support unsigned and small artists in his hometown.

But I am happy is going to happen and I feel this event will help me get closure because the current lineup so far I am fans of the artists and they are very talented and I am please they can sing songs of Prince throughout various eras not just the 80s. But if Prince associates have plans to do more concerts in the future, then I will take what I can get and embraced it.

Was set to travel in april. Too late, and way too little. Pass.
Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind.

Who would have thought.

15 years after sitting and watching him during his soundcheck on the side seats on the right side of the stage and then asking him questions at the Excel Energy Center in St Paul in June 2001 at the Second CELEBRATION Rainbow Children We would now be attending his memorial A CELEBRATION of LIFE and Music at the same VENUE October 13th, 2016.

It does not make sense....only 15 years. I Treasure that I grabbed the chance the first time.

Now it means even more to pay my respect.

So no Shelby J? If she's not there then we know something seriously went wrong because back in August she posted about looking forward to seeing the Twinz again in October.
