Any news on an aftershow?

After a 34 degree day it rained pretty much all through Larry's set. Then Prince came on and the rain stopped. He mentioned it had gone and started to sing 'Hot Summer'. A few minutes later it started to rain again. He quickly went into Purple Rain and a lightning storm started. It was amazing. Also the funkiest version of Kiss I've heard.

Damn it was goood! Set list pretty similar to previous shows ... great moment when it poured rain and they started playing Purple Rain.
I only had a bad moment when some Dutch guy in the golden circle threatened to beat me up (literally!) because I was standing in front of his daughter who was shorter than me... really scary how aggresive he was... but I decided not to let it ruin my show
I still think the audience was not as enthusiastic as it could have been.
If only we knew where (if so) the aftershow it ... Prince is probably staying at the Conrad (downtown Brussels), so the party will be there.
Oh and Bria sat throughout the show on the left side of the stage .. and he frequently made eye contact with her, eg. when he was jamming with Larry and the guy from Mint Condition, he looked over to her with a funky expression on his face kinda like "dayum this is cool!"... they're definitely still together!

Great show!! The first hour he really pleased the audience with hits & hits, long versions and slightly different versions. Kiss was great, best version ever!!
The audience, from where I was standing, was really in the mood 2 party.
The encores were good (Forever in my life, Old Skool Co) but the second or third time he came back on stage wasn't that good. I thought he should have played a better final song...but that's the only bad thing I can say about this concert..sorry haters:lol: It was my wife's first Prince concert and she had a great time. Fantastic gig! Started early at 21.40, ended at 23.20. Surprises were Partyman and Musicology as encores. It rained a lot at Werchter, so Prince stopped playing Hot Summer Ehen it started to rain and played PR instead. Very funny how he lay down on the floor 2 times during the encore pretending to Be exhausted. I liked the Gig a lot and everything was well organized at Werchter including the Golden Circle. I had à fantastic view. Thank you Prince! See the man with the blue guitar, maybe one day he`ll be a star...

Show starts in 30 minutes or so according to a Schkopi.com member who phoned the venue (the Viage). Have fun !

Overall it was ok, but Prince was completely on automatic pilot, uninspired. The only time he seemed to be enjoying himself was when he was jamming with Larry. His voice was good, the guitar-playing was good albeit not enough. He could have done a way better version of the first encore 'Forever In My Life', this one was plain boring.
The camera was not nice for Prince, on the screen he looked tired.

"Forever in my life" was indeed boring. My enthousiasm subsided quick.Liked Partyman on the other hand, pretty suprising.
Missed the piano and some intense moments. Still master of the show though. What he can create by lifting a hand for example. Magic.
I like the atmosphere and enjoyed the show a lot. First time open-air, and I prefer it to sitting on a chair in a stadion.

It was a great, great show - and Prince was NOT unspired - I did see him tens of times over the last 30 years and he was clearly enjoying himself tonight- much more than the O2 shows where a few times he seemed to lack inspiriation from the boring UK crowds. I love Prince and chocolate - in that order

Thank you thank you thank you for that post - the splitsecond I read that, I ran out and went to the aftershow.
He played frmo around 4 am until 5h50am ... with his band and also with Larry Graham's band.
First it was Larry and Graham Central station playing for about an hour, with Prince in the back, playing with his back towards the audience.
But then he got to playing his own material ... he played Cream / Le Freak / All the critics love you in Belgium / How come you don't call me anymore and then some more .. it's all a blur in my head, I'm dead exhausted but it was F.A.N.T.A.S.T.I.C. ... unbelieveable
I'm going to bed now, but tomorrow I'll try to post some more of what I remember
oh and ps: I don't know if it was Bria with him (I think so, but she looked different from the pictures), but that is one beautiful looking lady - nothing like in the pictures (but then maybe it was someone else .. .. but she was taller than him and had huge breasts .. )

That's always what I like about his shows; how he orchestrates. And how he whipped into Purple Rain when the downpour started again.
I liked the laidback feeling of the concert. He was relaxed, but indeed seemed tired.
Loved, loved, loved how his face lit up when Larry joined him onstage. Those two men really love each other's company.

Sorry to hear that, Heidi. There is no excuse for that kind of behaviour. There was more of that going around. It kinda shocks me every time to see so much blatant aggressiveness.
Btw, the golden circle areas was hopelessly overcrowded, which resulted in lots of pushing and shoving. It was so full I could not leave it, I had to leave it via the security passageway. Weird situation, the people near the exit got crowded badly and were SO angry at everyone that wanted to leave, due to the pushing. >>

Great show, IMO. Not a lot of "rock" guitar but very funk driven, especially after the first part with the hits. He could have played a little longer, and with less pauzes but oh well. Main set ended after just 75 minutes and then the rest were encores. I timed it: concert started at 21.30 and ended 23.35. The funky segments in the second half were great. Partyman was a nice surprise - made me think of the endless version he played of that song at Werchter back in 1990. And the ending with Musicology was just stunning: very funky and I especially liked the final part where Prince would start with a very slow riff of Love Rollercoaster and would then speed up, ending in a Musicology jam played at double speed. We were in Golden Circle and had a great view. Lots of space on our side, so very relaxed. Looking at the total audience I guess this was his biggest solo show this tour, my estimate would be that there were about 40,000 people.
I think the setlist was as follows: Venus de Milo
Let's go crazy
Delirious 1999
Little red corvette Controversy Take me with U
Guitar/Hot summer Purple rain Angel
Nothing compares 2 U (with Shelby J.) Kiss Mountains/Shake your body
Everyday People
Higher
Forever in my life
Ol' skool company
Dance (Disco Heat)
Partyman
Musicology
Peach (short instr.)

That looks like not a bad setlist but instead of "Musicology" he coulda played something from Around The World In A Day or Diamonds & Pearls...

The concert was great!!! One of the better ones I have seen (I am following since 1986). It was funky.
I had the impression that he was really enjoying the atmosphere. It guess it was some time ago that he had >40.000 fans together.
Hopefully this inspires him to think bigger 4 the future.

my first Prince concert! I thought it was absolutely brilliant. From where I was standing the crowd was really into the whole show. Even the more obscure songs got a great reception. Prince was on fire as far as I could tell, he seemed to really have fun on stage.
Mountains, partyman where a nice surprise. I liked the live versions of several new songs as well...Guitar was tight, musicology was fun to. The rain during (and only during) Purple rain was perfect timing.
only negative (and it's a small one i admit): there was no prince merchandise available,...I was really hoping to get some stuff, but hey got me a GCS t-shirt, cd and dvd so not too bad either. It was not in vain...it was in Minneapolis!

The concert was good, but not nearly the best I've ever seen. Prince played the old songs on auto-pilot and the transitions between the songs had all been done before. I really liked it when het played Party Man. And that Disco number at the end of the first stet. Hadn't heard Party Man in a while!
I don't know if it was because it was raining, or because it was on a festival terrain or because the crowd was bussier getting drunk than listening to Prince, but I did not get the buzz like I did in London.
But still, Prince on an off day is alway better than any other artist on his peak This is the life. Everyone has to be somewhere, I am here...........
