does Tourette Syndrome qualify as a disabbility???

Divinity, sweety, perhaps next time U'd better just throw some underwear onstage like normal fans.

(To Nep2nes)As usual with you--you need to THINK before you post!

Won't evah happen, Brian..lol...Nep is notorious for not thinking before posting...or in this case, even reading the rest of the thread before posting(and I'm giving her the benefit of the doubt here, cuz if she did read the rest of the thread before posting and still reached the conclusions she did, then her comprehension skills have hit an all-time low)...

Don't expect her to come back on here and admit that she was wrong in her assessment, that'll never happen either...it's just something we've come to expect and tolerate with Nep: knee-jerk reactions to things without thinking, usually getting it 100% wrong...and an inability to understand how continuously doing that can grate on people's nerves...

The bad part is that there are more than a few others on this thread who seem to have caught "Nepatitis"...lol...to be near the bottom of a thread that's over 200 posts long, and still feel that people are only sticking up for Prince because they are asskissers just baffles me...

....had to respell "Nepatitis"...heh...

Somehow I doubt that the ADA applies to an Internet discussion.

In any event, you were the one who made an issue out of your disability and implied that it was somehow relevant. You're trying to have your cake and eat it too.

Hi. lol I don't know what to think. I like Princes music and thats as far as it goes for me. If you guys are right and this girl is mentally disabled I don't undrstand your creulty toward her. My little sister has mental problems sometimes and a disability is a disability.

Most people with that problem usually had some sort of bad incident which they couldn't handle, or have suffered years of abuse until they get that way. People are not born with mental problems they get them because they were hurt worse than you or I could ever imagine. I dont know why Divinity bothered to post the incident her, but if she needed a shoulder to lean on you failed her again. Divinity keep your chin up. You are beautiful. Be happy.

My sister was kidnapped by my father when my parents divorced & locked in a closet for weeks. Is that funny to you people to? I bet you point at people in wheelchairs and would kick someones cast if their leg was broken.

You said Prince told you to be nice to her so be nice.

Mary
p.s. sorry I usually dont air my dirty laundry

I think it's pretty clear these people are joking about her disability being mental, based on their assessment of her as being a completely derranged fan, or just overly pushy and delusional. No one that wants to maintain any level of credibility is going to mock her for being developmentally disabled. But we're all comfortable in our observations that she's a kook.

I have read all the responses in this thread and it's funny how people have jumped all over Prince assuming how he is towards people at the soundchecks. I’m not trying to be an asskisser, because Prince has always had a reputation for being a control freak, and difficult to work with by some accounts. But who knows the truth unless you were there??? And he has become more open to being around people, something unheard of in his early days.

Below is my encounter with Prince at the soundcheck in Cleveland and a link to the soundcheck in both Cleveland and Detroit.

http://www.prince.org/msg...&tid=10187

Billy Sparks told us it would only be a few minutes and they let us in at 5:40. We had already heard the band playing The Rainbow Children while we were waiting to get in. Don't forget your ID because they were checking that and tickets. We got our pass and Mary and I headed down the aisle into the soundcheck. We got in the 1st row on the right side right by Prince, who was on keyboards. I asked how he was doing, he said all right and I told him that we sure wished we were closer for the show. Prince said that before the next round of shows begins, there will be changes and all club members will get the best seats. YAY !!!

I was leaning against the stage and having a brain fart, since I was talking to Prince and he was just messing with the keys on his piano and watching people come in and sit down. All of a sudden the row of lights directly above and behind the band rolled over and shined bright white on us. I said "Wow, that looks just like the spaceship in Close Encounters". Prince says "Yeah, and speaking of Close Encounters, why don't you have a seat and relax". Then starts laughing. Then he makes some crack about me bugging him !!!

I asked him what he thought of Rico at the Detroit show: http://www.prince.org/msg...&tid=9970# ,and he wanted to know if I was collecting information for the Internet. So I was in trouble with him immediately, and he was watching me from time to time !!! It was hilarious !!!

Then……………..

He came over to where Mary and I were sitting at one point and asked me " Are you acting up down there" so I put my coat over my head and asked him "Should I hide under here"? Prince told me " No, keep it off, I want to see what you’re doing". He was in rare form, cracking jokes with the crowd and at one point he put on the Hohner Telecaster and the guy next to me or behind me asked Prince how old that guitar was. Prince said " I bought this in 1981, and every time I tell people this they don't believe me, but I only paid $30. for it. I walked into a gas station and it was sitting there and I bought it." The guy who asked him offered Prince $50. for it, and Prince cracked up !!! So no rumors about this one y'all. Right from his own mouth we heard it !!! That's a great story !!! So interplay with all of the audience members took place in between and during rehearsal of songs that Prince was showing Najee how he wanted them to be played.

I guess my point is that he has to deal with all personalities at these soundchecks and he seems to mostly have fun with everyone.I was the first into the Cleveland soundcheck and took the opportunity to start a conversation with him. He jokingly ended it with a great line and messed with me later.

I just feel very thankful that he opened up his musical world for us to experience.

Ole girl threw a hissie fit, sitting in her seat shaking and crying while security hovered around. She ought to be damned glad the guards didn't throw her ass out on the sidewalk. Long as this chick been around she should know the only ladies cleared to approach Prince are itty bitty brunettes.

You obviously haven't read this entire thread!! He didn't want to take the CD because that could open himself up to possible lawsuits from someone saying they had a hand in writing this song OR he lifted lyrics from her "extra verse" in something else.

A record company executive came to talk to my Sports and Entertainment Law class, and he mentioned that refusing unsolicited demos is standard practice in the industry, for the very reason you mention. However, he also said that he will listen to anything that comes to him by way of an agent or law firm. So if you're trying to make it big in the music industry by distributing your demo, I guess you'd be well-advised to get an agent or a lawyer. Of course, finding an agent who's interested in representing you is a challenge, and a lawyer will want to be paid his or her hourly rate....

Nep, I really hope your little Catholic school in Rochester has corporal punishment and that Sister Margaret gives you a few paddles. You are out of control!

Ironically, if you'd read the post about the soundcheck, you'd know that Prince made a point to make sure a young girl at the soundcheck was brought up to the stage during the show to dance... and he followed through on it.

Lesson:

Read BEFORE posting.

I'm talking to Nep2unes (not Divinity--the person who started this thread), who is an annoying abrasive girl that won't stop baiting us on a daily basis.

I've made my peace with Divinity, and by the way, I stand by everything I said on this thread. I still apologized to her for any hurt feelings, etc. What more do you want?

By the way Mary, you weren't there Sunday, and if you'd read this thread, you'd know that Divinity has admitted that she misunderstood something Prince said. Prince was not a dick, nor am I an ass-kisser. Trace the history of prince.org and you'll see that I am VERY critical of most things Prince does. However, I also believe in standing up for the truth, and that's what I've done.

DIVINITY --- listen, read your post -- sorry if you felt singled out -- but i have nothing but great experiences meeting with and talking to prince.... however, a friend of mine has not. As a matter of fact, she was such a diehard that she felt offended by him and is no longer a fan -- based on the discussions at the celebration. my theory?

1) my friend was IN LOVE with Prince, so anything prince said to her, she took it personally (it could have been a "positive" moment and then she would have sacrificed her first born for it. It works both ways....

2) my friend has low self esteem so she seeks others to justify her worth. had Prince acknowledged her she would've been "a changed woman" and that feeling woulda lasted a couple of months and fed into her OBSESSIVENESS for more.

3) Prince senses AGENDA, BAD VIBES, BODY LANGUAGE,etc. my friend was pissed off and he was WELL AWARE of it so he sort of dissed her.

bottom line: he owes us nothing. so if he smiles at me cool, i dont care --- if he rolls his eyes at me, i also equally dont care.

he's just a rock star and will never be your buddy unless you got that status quo, meet all the proper criteria -- Divinity - dont give him the Pedestal to stand on, cuz he is just a man -- and you will be disappointed. Your self worth should be based on man.

AND BY THE WAY..... I ASKED PRINCE IF I COULD GIVE HIM MY DEMO, AND I GOT HIS PERMISSION ... of course i never saw him again (LOL) and sending it to Paisley with everyone else would have been like you talking to SONNY -- worthless unless you give it to Prince himself.

U'all is whats wrong w/ the world today. Of course there are 2 side 2 the story, always tru. But if u'all claim 2 be a fan community, Divinity is definitely a fan. may-b over obsessed, but still a fan. This shit has spread all over the world, not b cuz of Divinity's report, but cuz o u'alls rude comments. Negativity breeds negativity, learn from it u'all.
Move on. I'm sure u'alls good peoples but u reacted like animals. Divinity too. who's rite, who's wrong? does it really matter. they say creativity borders on insanity, this website proves it.
