Divinity please, could you post the lyrics here? And please also the part you did wrote? That would intress me and... don't cry anymore baby, Prince is may be touched personally. May be youve been entered in2 His garden..., lyrics and songs as from artists written, are often untouchable and very personal. We should care and do our own things, enjoying just, the things others are makin'.

Wellcome in2 the club of the brokenhearted!biggrin wink

No the woman really did make an ass of herself at the soundcheck. And for the reasons that have been stated in other posts, no he should not have taken the cd. Next thing you know she'd say he stole some idea from a song off her little cd and try to sue him. She is a loon.

Its quite sad what an asshole Prince has become. He should just take the cd and say "How thoughtful, thank you"

It was thoughful of her to disrupt the soundcheck by leaving a cd on the stage and then proceed to tell Prince that his song "Crazy You" was not complete? Umm, yeah right.

This was not a cast "call", this was a fan reaching out 2 her favorite musician. Why cant u buffoons c that???

No, she was a loon being an ass at the soundcheck. None of the other fans there, including myself, wanted to be bothered with her whining crap. Remember he does not have to let fans attend the soundchecks. And it was Prince that asked us to "be nice" when we were getting fed up with her.

Furthermore, more than one person who was also there has said over and over that she blew, not only the title of this thead, but what happend at the soundcheck out of proportion. There only seem to be a few people who responded to this thread that don't seem to understand that, including you. But I'm not surprised after reading some of your posts on other topics.

I see both sides to this story. During the LOVESEXY tour, I took a tape of my music. I never got it to Prince - I think I gave it to a roadie after the show, knowing full-well it would end up in the trash.

BUT, conversely, there's the recent story of the band PUDDLE OF MUD... the lead singer took copies of his tape EVERYWHERE, and eventually the dork from Limp Bizkit got a copy, heard him, and DISCOVERED him.

SO, it DOES happen. While the ensuing transaction was unfortunate, as songwriters/performers are willing to go through all sorts of rejection to have somebody listen to their music. Sure, she picked the wrong place, wrong time to go about it, but you HAVE to admire her courage to even PUT the CD on the stage!

Yeah, he could have handled it better - simply IGNORING the CD would have been the best reaction, so noone would know if he got it or not, and it wouldn't turn into a crazy-ass fight.

BUT, you know, the guy IS opening himself a lot by doing these open soundchecks... maybe he's already regretting it. I know it must be more difficult than the usual soundchecks he gets.

So, sure, the girl got her feelings hurt - conversely, hey, she DID get to talk to Prince. That's more than I've done.

1.) The soundchecks r not auditions or casting calls. They're 2 make sure the sound is right and 4 the band to get loose & warm up. If dude took every solicitation from every artist in need of a break, he'd never get 2 perform. HAving said that, I can c how your feelings were hurt, especially after so much effort expended 2 get 2 the show, leading me to point...

Check this out Neptunes--the soundcheck started late and he literally only had a few minutes before the theatre needed him off the stage. Najee had already mentioned that he didn't know some of the songs for that night. So instead of Najee learning to play them and us hearing them on Sunday, we had to listen to Divinity's persistent complaining. Prince just ignored her and talked to us, but the point is that he could have been PLAYING, which is what we came to see, dig? Instead, we got an abbreviated soundcheck and they didn't play any new songs Sunday.

Second, if you'd read the entire thread, you'd know that Divinity's post is full of untruths. Prince never commented about her outfit or was disrespectful, in fact he told us to be nice to her when she wouldn't shut up and we all started moaning. And speaking as a lawyer, I would advise my clients to do exactly what he did if given a CD. If you knew your Prince history, you'd know that he's already had to deal with suits in the past from people claiming they wrote his material. If he takes the CD and says thanks, who do you think a jury will believe when a lawsuit is brought claiming that Prince's new song is really a cover of one of her songs?

As usual with you--you need to THINK before you post!

Kookoo
Scarlet Pussy
La la la, hee hee hee
Housequake
When 2 R N Love

Yes, they're great songs, but LOOK AT THE TITLES, and then look at her titles. There ain't a lot o difference there.

Wait a minute, I am a disabled person and I find it strange that someone would say "they try too mask their disability." Furthermore, to use your disability for smpathy, person gain, and attention seeking is just plain wrong. I have been disabled all of my life, I find it distrubing that someone would use their disablity too make someone else look bad.

Next soundcheck they should have some guys with stunn-guns up in all 4 high corners of the building.

Soon as another Mad Fan loses her marbles, at least they can sedate them and drag m off outside.

They should stick m in a cage and force m 2 listen 2 "Colour Me Bad" cd's for 24 hours straight.

That will teach m.

Many of the replies to this post make this girl seem SHE is the rude one. All P had to do was take the damn CD. He then could have put it aside and never listened to it. What was the need to be so rude to someone who, essentially, was paying him a compliment? I seriously doubt that this poor girl is any crazier than Prince is. Don't get me wrong, I love much of Price's music, otherwise I wouldn't be here. The fact is that Prince can be an arrogant, rude, and disrespectful asshole. He IS only a human being, he is not perfect and therefore, occassionally he says and does the wrong thing. There are a lot people in this group that seem to worship him as if he's a God. He isn't. He is merely a amazing musician, one out of many in this world. In my opinion, he absolutely, positively IS not as intelligent as he seems to think he is. The fact that he is a musical genius does not mean he is a genius in other areas of life.

Especially the 'obscure facts' about Divinity section...

This one kills me:

Divinity has double jointed hips

smile

or this one:

Divinity has lived in
Chicago, IL
Las Vegas, NV
San Diego, CA
South Lake Tahoe, CA
Sacramento, CA
New York, NY
Reno, NV
Pittsburgh, PA
Tacoma, WA
Erlanger, KY

lol...looks like U've had some trouble with the authorities b4, not just with the security at the DC venue hahaha.

Ok, I'm gonna investigate Ur site further now, this is wicked.

During my year relationship with the park I sent bouquets of imported european flowers among other gifts just to show my appreciation for their kindness in reveiwing & accepting my material. I received musical & career advice from Sunny during this entire time. I was later given a cell phone number so I could reach Sunny at any time. I asked Sunny if Prince ever saw my press kit & he said it was on his desk, & told me about how the last time I sent flowers Prince refused to let Sunny take them to his office because he wanted them in the background for some t.v. interview he was doing later in the day.

doesnt it seem 2 u that maybe Sunny had a hidden agenda as well? perhaps he was using his connections with Paisley Park 2 try 2 make u think he was an important person and that he could make things happen 4 u if u played ur cards right...what i am gettin at is maybe he wanted 2 hook up with u

I had planned a trip to Minneapolis towards the end of '98 after going through another surgery, & was to call Sunny when my husband & I arrived. When I called Paisley Park I was given Sunny's home phone number. When I called Sunny's home I was saddened to find that Prince had done a mass firing & let go of Sunny in the process.

btw letting go means firing...Sunny's interactions with u was probably violation of trust with Prince and this was probably why he was fired. i mean really, he was authorizing the use of Prince's music obviously without Prince's consent. leaks r not permitted within the park. perhaps he had even had other "deals" going on with other ppl as well

I left town & I never attempted to contact Paisley Park again except regarding my recording of "Crazy You" which you're not understanding I added to creatively. The song was just an accoustic, unfinished in my opinion, short idea. The final production was complete instrumentation and the addition of more lyrics supplied by me.

with u being such a devoted fan 4 so many years, u should know how Prince feels about his music. in fact, i have heard him say many times that he views his songs as his children. so in actuality, u saying that this song was "unfinished" is saying that his child is disabled and u r pointing out ur opinion 2 every1. and furthermore, by changing it from how it was meant 2 b, u have molested one of his children.

ben, the title of this thread should b "fan at concert rapes one of Prince's childeren and gets upset when Prince is not happy....story at 11" that would b less misleading than the title she poorly chose. which brings me 2 my next point, if u r forbidden 2 talk about ur disability (which is totally fuckin stupid 2 me--wouldnt that b some kind of violation on that society's part by censoring u and not lettin u b recognized by ur disability?) then y even bring it up? it is obviously, like many have said b4, just something 2 b used 4 sympathy and i personally think u r pathetic. Banished Brian said it best when he asked Ben 2 edit the title b4 another urban myth is started.

We weren't given a list of rules when we entered the venue, & from your perspective I should've known not to put a CD on-stage.

no there were no list of guidelines i'm sure but most ppl have enough common sense and respect not 2 violate some1's creation and then present it 2 them in a manner such as this and expect the person that was insulted 2 b happy with what a "fan" has done

Do you still feel the same way knowing Paisley Park was my direct driving force from '97-'98?

once again u claim 2 have been "in" with Paisley Park and Prince when actually u were "in" with Sunny. Tell me again...help me out if something has changed...but who is the owner of Paisley Park? Did the owner say 2 u, "hey here is my song....take it and fix it for me because i do not know how, i am your driving force and i want u 2 rape my music" ?? did he say that 2 u?

u know it was not very wise of u 2 look at the org 4 a shoulder 2 cry on. especially when ur story is so distorted. u need 2 look at this from Prince's point of view as an artist and u would see y he reacted the way u did.

there r so many other things i would like 2 add 2 this thread but it is probably already big enough 2 cause the org 2 have more down time because of it being 2 large 4 this site 2 support.

do everyone a favor and think b4 u try another stunt like this. u r trying 2 ruin a beautiful thing which is this man's music and his recent interactions with fans through the sound check. one day u will look back at this and see how big of a dumbass u were

btw if u have decided 2 stop listening 2 Prince because of this, dont throw ur cd's and such away. give em 2 me lol

You obviously haven't read this entire thread!! He didn't want to take the CD because that could open himself up to possible lawsuits from someone saying they had a hand in writing this song OR he lifted lyrics from her "extra verse" in something else. He did nothing wrong here, and you know most people here would get in ass quick if he did something wrong, so don't say that everyone here treats him like he's God. Get a grip!

I was wondering the same thing. From what I remember we were not frisked, they might have looked in bags for recorders but I didn't have a bag so I'm not sure. When he first walked to the stage from the back of theater, he walked right past me. This woman from the other side of the isle reached out to touch Prince (not sure if she touched him or not), but the guard not sure if his name is Aaron or not slapped her hand hard. Aaron then told her something to the effect of, stop it or he would put her out. She then apologized and that was that. She didn't bust out into tears and go hysterical.

I wonder where else this woman has posted this story. If she continues with this, like sending it to npgmc it could affect how they handle the sound checks.

The fact that the title of this threads sounds like a newspaper headline shows that you're trying to sensationalize to drum up attention.

If I were Prince, I'd not want to hear your song either. Make a song from scratch. Don't have the audacity to think you can improve upon his work. If he wanted a second verse to Crazy You, he'd right one.

As for Alicia Keyes, I hope Prince does feel some chagrin. Why are critics raving over her version and saying it's better than Prince? Prince conceived the damn song and he's the first to do a skit at the end of it. She's copying him. Write your own damn song and do a skit. So what if AK adds a new twist by calling someone and hanging up, it's easy to embellish on what's already created.

By the way, Mitchell likes Prince "stealing" a Case of You, right?? stealing is a pretty strong word for him to use.

Just one last comment...

For those of you who feel he should have just taken the CD and thrown it away, this still would not protect him from future lawsuits for "stealing" material. Even if he said that he threw it away, once it was in his possession he'd have a hard time proving that he didn't listen to it first. Giving it to one of his entourage also would not protect him from claims of using someone else's material. It could be argued that the guard held on to it and he listened to it later.

Sounds to me like he handled it in the best and only way he could.
