it's a fair bit darker than that - more 70s gritty urban drama than good-natured 80s comedy. i actually chose my words really poorly in describing him as lovable - i probably made it sound like a goofy comedy. it has absurdist elements, but it's more a look at a manic, failed, reckless, mess of a person trying to do something he is competely unable to do. if you ever met this guy in real life, you'd be calling child & family services within 5 minutes for sure.
