That's heartbreaking. It's better that he's not in pain anymore though.

It is, watching them suffer, it's beyond frustrating and heartbreaking.

So yesterday these 2 guys ran over my cat .I guess my cat fell asleep while laying on the road. His back 2 legs are broken and he can't walk at all.he has to crawl.I believe he's bleeding from his penis but he's in so much pain I cant really look between his legs without hurting him .he has been bleeding since the accident which happens at 5 pm yesterday .he's drinking water but not much and he's not eating at all.he's 6 years old. He's my favorite kitty.I'm not sure what to do cuz I don't have any transportation at the moment and I don't have the money to take him to the vet.I want him to get better but I know he is suffering. The 2 guys who ran him over apologized and they didn't even live on the road I live on.their whole purpose of coming down here was to "shoot some deer's with their new rifle gun they just got" [Edited 11/8/16 17:41pm] [Edited 11/8/16 17:42pm]

hopefully you've already taken the cat to the vet.

If the two guys had enough integrity to apologize, maybe they'll have enough to help out with the vet bills. I was in almost the same situation as you, although we found a dog that had been run over. I paid for his reconstructive surgery, rehabilitated him, and then put up posters about finding him.

The dog's owner contacted me, but when I told him how much I'd spent, he balked. We ultimately agreed that he would pay me half of what I spent, and I'd keep the dog. It meant I paid $600 for a Doberman, but I was grateful the guy paid something. Maybe these two guys will, too. Best of luck, and blessings for you!

So did you keep the Doberman? And if so, how is he doing these days? Is he still traumatized or is he maybe a bit more grateful because you helped him?

I am so sorry for your loss. I know how you feel because I have lost several cats over the years, and each death hurts like a family member.

Caring for pets can be very expensive and sometimes the costs are prohibitive to the point that we can't afford to save our pets. What your vet was going to charge you for surgery was quite cheap, at least it would be considered cheap where I live. I once paid in excess of $1000 for surgery and health care for one of my cats, and this was several years ago.

If you find yourself in a position where you can't afford something for you cat, check with you local animal rescue league or shelter. Establish a relationship with them so that they will know you and your pet if/when an emergency arises and they will be more inclined to help you save your pet at a reduced rate. Volunteer at the shelter or a vet's office to establich a rapport.

I feel sorry for you. Cats and dogs are , in my opinion, family members. It must be really devastating for you.

It´s tough that you don´t have the money right now but if I were you I´d try to cough up the money someway, somehow.

A good friend of mine has spent more than 5000 dollars on her dog already, and the dog is really old now, but in my opinion every single cent was worth the investment because that dog is one of her best friends and has helped her tremendously through some very bad times.

I'm so sorry for your loss. I had cats that were run over when I was a child. Although it hurts to lose your friend, it is better to let him go than to see him suffer.

My grandma told me to look up a poem titled "Rainbow Bridge ".I read it and its a beautiful poem so I thought I would share it with y'all

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

This happened back in 1988 or 89, so it was a while ago.

My wife and I kept him for a couple months while he recuperated. He was awesome! What a great breed of dog. He was never "traumatized" that I could tell.

After he recuperated, we gave him to my wife's grandmother. She lived alone, and Sparky was the perfect companion for her. I think Sparky lived three or four years after Grandma got him. i never knew for sure, but he must have been kind of old when we found him.

I would love to have another Doberman. I'm a small dog kind of guy, but a Doberman is one big dog I'd take in a heartbeat.

Zero chance of recovery. Complete waste of the court's time. this did not happen on private property. The judge will ask why was the cat asleep in the road? The men will say they didnt see him. Case is over. Judgement for the defendants. Again, these kinds of horrible, uneccessary tragedies can be easily avoided by not allowing cats to roam or be outdoors unsupervised.

Your right.I live out in the country so there's not really that much traffic at all but some rednecks just had to go deer hunting and run over my cat .I agree that it was my fault and the accident could've been avoidable if I didn't let him outside but when my kitty was alive he would go in and out of the house as he pleases. He loved the outdoors a lot 2. I know that he lived a great life.that I can say

Personally I'm glad you allowed your cat some freedom. Cats are independent creatures, they like to hunt - especially in the countryside. Having a cat and allowing it outdoors is always risky but, in my opinion, keeping it indoors when there is little traffic around doesn't give the cat the freedom it deserves. I have a slightly different opinion if you live in the city or by main roads but it sounds to me like your cat had a happy life. You looked after him well and gave him dignity at the end.

lol i just have enough sense not to waste my time on a lawsuit i have zero chance of winning. You cant file a lawsuit in small claims court for free. So not only would i be in debt for medical bills, i would be in more debt by losing an additional 40 bucks in court costs.
