Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind.

Thats why I think everyone should write a memoir about their lives as they go on. Luckily I have written journals from 4th grade up to my college years, many experiences I completely forgot about are documented. You never know what somebody went through and how they are the way they are. You sound like you have quite a story to tell and I would bring popcorn to the film.

Excellent points concerning journal and memoir writing. I starting keeping journals around 1991 but about 8 years after i started, my mother shipped some of my personal belongings and unfortunately the shipping company lost them. The journals(along with family photos) were among the stuff lost. I was so mad(and still am).

That's great that you were able to keep a journal for so long. I viewed you posts on this thread and I'm sure you have some amazing stories as well.

For me, one of my more crazier and hilarious(and stupid) stories is when i hopped a freight train(hobo style) from California to Washington State.

I could have been killed.

^ Love talking to old folks... they have some serious stories from war...drugs...sex...family...jobs...marriages...heartache...

Recemtly met this old man in the pub... we got chatting and he showed me a manuscript of his life-story...he was dying and wrote the book for his 40yr old son...and his grandson (when he becomes older)

It was all about his own abusive father and upbringing...from leaving a mining town at 15...moving to London...becoming a successful animator/graphic designer...going bankrupt...becoming a widow...

It was an amazing couple of hours and something I will carry with me for a long time...

I love learning about peoples lives - and I mean their truthful lives...not the cosmetic, attention guff they put on facebook/Instagram etc...

Wow see I'm sure many of us have award winning tales that are just beggining for a movie to be made. I agree with you. That guy sounds like he has lived quite the life!

Lots of hot sex

Lots of drunken dancing

Lots of skinny dipping

A series of interesting, charming and lusty boyfriends who came out of the closet either while I was with them, or after we split up.

One really bad AIDS scare but we both tested negative. whew

Drug? I'll try anything once, but never any needles.

Violence, I was sexually assaulted a few times but I managed to fight them off and get away, so I was never raped.

Except that one time when all I could do was scream. It worked though. The guy lost his nerve and he fled.

Lots of travel adventures,

Lots of hiking

Lots and lots of road trips

One false arrest where I was hauled down to jail and fingerprinted and put in the cell for about an hour.

.

It would probably be rated PG

Well, as long as it's not a Quentin Tarantino or a David Lynch movie, I suppose you're alright. wink

Was that Dangermouse's creator? One of my fave toons. Penfold biggrin I love old folks too, loved nothing better than hearing their stories as a kid. [Edited 9/29/16 17:40pm]

Gosh Nina - you have a good memory!

Yes - that was indeed the chap

what stuck with me was that he wrote the book because he broke the cycle of behaviour of his abusive Father...and his Father before him etc...

He wanted to give his son, grandson an alternative way of living and be good Fathers going forward

A fantastic and brave legacy - simply inspiring...and all out of a random caht with a stranger at the pub...beautiful, simply beautiful

That would be the 'erb Cheech lol

Oh yeah...the other reason he wrote it was because he wanted to fully come to terms with his past and confront it in a cathartic way

Like he said..."whether it is today, tomorrow or decades from now....your truth will out...the truth will out"

Where he came from to where he reached. The joy he brought 2 all us kids with DM. I've only 2 hear the theme tune & I smile. And 2 draw a line in the sand, break a fam pathology. Beautiful.
