Ben-Hur (2016)

More was definitely less with this film. I loved Jack Huston in Boardwalk Empire and Silver Linings Playbook, so I have this one a chance. An exciting main sequence, but it played out like a made-for-TV flick otherwise. More blood and guts, but less heart and soul.

Have you seen the Charlton Heston 1959 version that they constantly show on TCM? Is the new version better?

yes. the original is far better. Longer, but rawer and more emotionally powerful.

Ben-Hur riding on a chariot with the slogan "First to Finish. Last to Die" thumbs up! the chariot race was worth the ticket price.

It gets one star for having Christian Slater in it.

The movie is horrible.

Just...bad.

Hoffa (1992)

Good performances all around, a little too overbearing at times, but I enjoy watching Jack Nicholson disappear into the title role. Good performances by Danny DeVito, Armand Assante, J.T. Walsh (great character actor) and John C. Reilly.

London Has Fallen (2016) In a nutshell the British Prime Minister has died and all the world leaders are attending his funeral, including the President Asher. Mike Banning (Asher's formidable secret service head and best friend) and a British MI-6 agent uncover a plot to assassinate all the world leaders, after a terrorist attack disrupts the funeral. Then after being chased by alot of terrorists on motorbikes the President is kidnapped, and there is a race against time to stop him being asssinated on live tv. I give this sequel a 2.5 out of 5 popcorn for its plot and action predictability.....and for killing Angela Bassett's character so early on (she deserved better!).....this film so predictable you can play the drinking game to it guinness lol nuts I wonder if there is gonna be a third one?
