Wimbledon 2016

It's ON. Roger Federer's comeback against Marin Cilic was one for the ages! I am really rooting for Federer to win and get major # 18. Go Roger!

On the women's side, Serena looks better than ever. She was absolutely dominant in her last match. We could have a Williams Sisters final. That would be cool!

Although I'm a big fan of Roger's, I would like to see my Canadian boy Milos take this one.

Yes, it would be awesome to have the Williams sister's in the finals, but I wouldn't know who to cheer for. confused

Serena was awesome - she'll be playing Kerber. Hope it's a competitive match but I want Serena to win. Kerber beat her in the Aussie final because she hung with her - Serena got tentative. The grass suits Serena perfectly though and if she plays the final like she did the semi then Kerber is toast :pooptoast:

It feels like Roger's last shot - would be great to see him do it but I wouldn't mind if Andy won as well - just hope they both make the final. Berdych and Raonic are as boring as watching paint dry (sorry Empress)

Raonic serving for the 1st set now against Federer - relies way too much on serve

Raonic just took it to a fifth set - his forehand is a beast and he is moving way better than he used to.

Unfortunately, I didn't see the game (I'm at work), but my hubby sent me a text telling me Milos had won and it was a hard win. I will be watching the finals tomorrow and Sunday though. smile

I had split loyalties on this: i really love roger, and want him to have that one last major, but yay for Milos for being the first canadian man to make it to a major singles final.

He had his chances - 2 double faults in a row when he's serving to take it to a tiebreak in the fourth??

It's competitive so far but a little windy on court - some weird bounces but Serena holds for 3-2 to stay on serve. This could be close popcorn

I wish more felt that way. Where would U.S. women's tennis be without her? She's the only champion repping our country (the men's side is shit). Yet she gets hated on by too many americans. Shameful.

Serena Williams may be the most incredible athlete since Nolan Ryan. She is 35, looks 25, and is completely dominating women's tennis. How she can do this at age 35 is absolutely amazing.

Heck, her sister's story might be even more amazing. To come back from where Venus was two years ago to where she is now is astounding. Great genes in that family!

Venus's career reminds me of Andre Agassi's. But he came back from nowhere for one main reason - to win the heart of Steffi Graf. It's an incredible story and if I can find the link, I'll post it.

But for now, congratulations to Serena Williams! I hope I can get tickets to the US Open to watch her win major #23!

You may be right about how some Americans feel about Serena, but I'm Canadian and have followed her and Venus's careers for a very long time. Both have done so much
for women's tennis and I love watching both play. It will be a sad day when they retire. The ladies are not getting any younger, but are still playing top notch tennis. Can't wait to see what happens at the US open.

Dang, Serena's back on the court in Women's Doubles with Venus. I didn't realize those finals are the same day.

It would be pretty cool to win TWO Wimbledon championships on the same day! But how much can Serena have left in the tank? They look good right now, though - especially Venus.

I like both Venus and Serena and have been folllowing them since 97, when Venus played in the US Open finals against Martina Hingis. Now that Serena has tied with Steffi Graf at 22 she only needs 3 more to overtake Australia's Margaret Court who has 24 singles Grand Slams. Unless she gets badly injured or loses interest in the game I think she can achieve this amazing milestone. biggrin worship Go Serena Go thumbs up!

An amazing feat to tie Graf's number of GS singles titles.

The one record i doubt Serena will equal is Grafs calendar grand slam (1988), not only that, but she managed to title another record the 'golden' calendar slam - including the olympics gold medal that year - now that record will likely last a generation or 2. Amazing stuff!
