I like both Venus and Serena and have been folllowing them since 97, when Venus played in the US Open finals against Martina Hingis. Now that Serena has tied with Steffi Graf at 22 she only needs 3 more to overtake Australia's Margaret Court who has 24 singles Grand Slams. Unless she gets badly injured or loses interest in the game I think she can achieve this amazing milestone. biggrin worship Go Serena Go thumbs up!

An amazing feat to tie Graf's number of GS singles titles.

The one record i doubt Serena will equal is Grafs calendar grand slam (1988), not only that, but she managed to title another record the 'golden' calendar slam - including the olympics gold medal that year - now that record will likely last a generation or 2. Amazing stuff!

I think the pressure finally got to Serena last year at the US Open, she lost to a player Roberta Vinci of Italy whom she would normally beat.....and it would have been incredible if she had done it, or even this year......but that nigling knee injury she had changed things and she couldn't compete at the high level that she usually does. Anyway I think there are more slam wins to come biggrin Also Novak had the opportunity to do it this year......but I think the high of winning the French Open after a few failed attempts did him in....but at least he got the career slam. Congrats to him king and for Andy Murray winning this year's Wimbledon men's final nod thumbs up! peace

Just goes to show you how difficult it is to achieve and the pressure thats on you to achieve it. I actually thought Novak wouldve done it - so back to the drawing board for him.

I wonder how many of the players are gonna compete in Rio being so close to the US Open?

good question - but it wouldn't be the closeness to the US Open that would worry me, it would be all the other issues Rio has had (is still having) that would cause most players to seriously consider whether its worth it. Its a complete shambles - but hey, its the Olympics!!!!
