Warriors Get 73......

Wow.

I can't believe the Warriors got to 73 wins but I'm glad they did.

The way they play is must see TV. Congrats to them.

and wasn't their coach on the team who's record they broke?

yup! (i know little and care less about basketball) Steve Kerr was played for the 96 Bulls team when they won 72 games.

They are a joy to watch, basketball at its highest level.

This is an accomplishment due to the fact they play in an absolutely loaded conference.

Because the Spurs had arguably their best regular season ever, GS basically had to get 68-70 wins just to clinch homecourt.

They won 40 games while their coach was on medical leave.

I laughed when someone wrote this was the greatest team of all time, last year. I'm not laughing anymore. These guys are amazing.

They have the best regular season ever.....doesn't mean they're the greatest TEAM of all time.

Better than the '67 Sixers, '70 Knicks, '71 Bucks, '72 Lakers, '83 Sixers, '86 Celtics, '87 Lakers, '92 or '96 Bulls? I don't think so.

I'm with you. I couldn't see them knocking off most of those teams, if any, particularly the teams from the '80s and 90's (that I actually saw).

But if GS wins the title -- which is no guarantee if they have to face the Spurs, who are a monster and relatively well-rested -- aren't the Warriors in the discussion of all-time great teams?

Lol. I love him though. You have to have a cocky, muthafucka in the bunch somewhere. Besides all the rest of the guys seem to be the reserved type. At least Draymond speaks his mind and is honest. Dude is a pretty good player too. biggrin

True. Fortunately for him he don't have to face similar crazy uncles today
like Rick Mahorn, Charles Barkley, and Karl Malone.

Unreal! I would have thought any team that would break the record would be in the middle of the continent, having to travel fewer miles.

Curry is quickly climbing the all time ranks. He has a shot to be top 5 when all is said and done.

The Warriors play basketball the way it was meant to be played... even moreso than my Showtime Lakers. Jordan's brand of iso-basketball is no longer the way to go. It's all about ball movement, pushing the tempo whenever possibe, and 3 point shooting on offense. Then you need guys that can guard multiple positions on defense. The Warriors do all of these things and their second team could beat some NBA squads-- they're that deep.

That said it's hard for me to imagine these guys beating those Lakers and Celtics teams of the 80's that I grew up with or even the Bulls of the 90's but who knows? People are talking like they know for certain which would be the better team but being adamant about it doesn't mean you're right.

^If they're playing by the old rules (before David Stern pussified the league) I know who'd win. You think today's wing players would enter the paint against Wilt, Russell, Unseld, Cowens, Silas, Thurmond, Mahorn, etc.? Remember when Kevin McHale clotheslined Kurt Rambis in the '84 Finals? Or the 'Jordan Rules'?Cats today don't know what physical play is. Walt Frazier said he'd have bruises on his arms after playing Chicago's Jerry Sloan and Norn Van Lier.

It's about championships and Mr. Russell owns that shit. And Kareem won six before Jordan did.

If the Warriors lose to the Spurs in the WCF, their 73 means nothing. Gotta finish the job (think of the 2007 Patriots).

You can say the same about the Jordan era and now.....imagine what Jordan in his prime would do in today's defensively-challenged NBA?

Any team in the NBA could get 73 wins.

Oh, wait; no one else did. But I still think any team in the NBA could.

Competition? Well, how about the NBA being watered-down by expansion in the 90s?

As opposed to talent level in the 60's?

That is laughable.
