MEET THE REAL WOMAN AND CREATOR BEHIND PATTI LABELLE'S PIE

“We knew it needed Ms. LaBelle’s special touch as well,” Thomas tells Fortune.

Let's Bottom line this...Walmart went after Patti, not the other way around. The Vice President also stated in one of many Patti-Pie articles that Patti made suggestions about the Pie ingredients and taste-tested a few before the product was initially packaged and shipped to stores.. The REAL CREATOR AND WALMART WORKER could have left Patti ALONE and went with her own Mammy Pie but she wanted to try and sell some Pies using a Celeb who has some street-cred in the Cooking world...The Stores will be re-stocked this month and we'll see if the Pie continues to sell faster than it's original September debut....People on Social Media continue to say they wanna try a Patti-Pie...

i happened to catch patti and this wright dude on a holiday cooking show where she made her pie. now, like you, i'm not a huge sweet potato pie girl (my mom and brother put me in the shade on that) so maybe i'm being biased, but based on her own recipe, i could only think that pie was going to be A HOT MESS. i won't get into it here, but i watched her make it with a 'oh hell naw' expression on my face the whole time. of course, this dude wright was going crazy over it. she also made a peach-apple cobbler where she put a layer of (store bought) dough, filling and another layer of dough in the dish, put it in the oven until the top layer was brown, like it was done or almost done, took it out, and put ANOTHER LAYER of filling and ANOTHER layer of dough, covered that sheet with brown sugar and butter, and baked it again. as a person who loves to bake, i was appalled by the store bought dough and canned peaches, but then really outdone by the fact that she double-baked the thing. who the hell does that??? it did not look good! the sugar on top looked burnt! so no, i'm not surprised that patti put her name to a recipe that not her own. she may have a rep for cooking, but i'm wondering how deserved it is. my aunt pawned her cookbook off on me after she made something from it that wasn't good.

Mammy pie? That sounds so slaverish...and using a well known celebrity that cooks is a good business/pr move.
