You know what's funny? Not one orger has said whether the pies are really all that good. All I see is people will go beserk almost over anything if the right celebrity's name is on it. Patti's know for her cooking, so the pies must be worth it. But I'm sorry, all I can think is another processed product chocked full of preservatives, not appetizing to me at all. I'm perfectly capable of making my own with the freshest ingredients I can find, even down to the sweetener from fresh sugarcane if i wanted it but it won't hold up well shipping it anywhere so i guess I'll suffer the indignity of my own stuff. I wish her much success with it, obviously it's doing quite well if they can't keep it in stores.

Well that's 'cuz not one orger can find one to taste. Unless you want us to go on ebay to get one of them 175 dollar pies. lol

Seriously though, I use B. Smith's pie recipe and it comes out delish every single time....I don't like my sweet potato pie too sweet.

I may get around to trying one of Patti's someday out of curiosity.

eta, Btw, it's not her original recipe from what I heard. She basically licensed her name to wal mart. sad

But that's what funny. Y'all goin’ be so mad if it taste like every other sweet potato pie sittin' up in Walmart, maybe it's got more nutmeg in it or something. It ain't her recipe and its made in a processing plant like every other pie. Maybe it is special but its got my side eye, I can't even get excited about it. It's a box with her name on it as far as I see.

Maybe I need more festive cheer. party martini martini martini

The same way we don't know if she just signed a contract to let someone stamp her name on a box. She got bills like the rest of us got bills. I just need more to get excited about it. They may be some seriously awesome pies that she's proud to endorse but that whole eBay mess just made them sound so much less appealing, like its a bs marketing ploy to sell regular store bought pies.

No, but I found this today when I went to my local Walmart (for something totally unrelated to the pie):

They put these signs up at the bakery AND had them taped up on the front door!! lol lol lol That's how many people been asking them about these pies they had to put up signs lol. I admit, I mainly want to try this pie of curiosity, the hype has me curious. I've read reviews from people who have tried it...some say it's average, others say its too sweet and dont like it, but most the the reviews have been very positive. I eat sweet potato pie twice a year during the holidays so I know what a good SP pie should taste like. I just want to see if her pie lives up to the hype, but I ABSOLUTELY REFUSE to buy this pie off the black market (EBAY) and pay 5 times as much or more for it. Those people crazy! I will patiently wait till they come back in stock at Walmart and pay the regular $3.48 price for it. If that doesnt happen until next year, then so be it. I'm in no hurry. It's just a freakin pie!

I never thought a Grocery store cake could ever taste as good as a homemade cake until people kept telling me about Publix Grocery Bakery...Publix is a popular chain here in the Southeast and their Bakery is LEGENDARY for its dessert products, including wedding cakes...So years ago I paid $25 for a pre-ordered marble sheet cake, shared it with family and we all had to LAUGH cuz that Damn cake was good....LOL..It really tasted like a homemade cake..You don't expect Grocery baked goods to taste "real"....Walmart Bakery cakes are "average" and I never buy them, but Publix Bakery cake is worth the $25 plus...Their desserts rival local bakeries...No lie, Just read up on them.

And last Friday I saw the TMZ video of Patti saying "My Pies were selling before the video, I did it myself!"...Then she went on The Today show and said it again "My pies were selling off the shelves before the video."....Patti is lying..Social Media called her out all weekend and let her know that the Nation did not run to the stores to purchase her Pies UNTIL James Wright video went viral....Sara Lee, Mrs. Smith, Uncle Ben's & even Aunt Jemima are all characters and the last two represent the stereotype..Patti is a real person with a Powerful Cooking credibility that goes back decades in the entertainment industry. Patti's Sweet Potato Pie could become BIGGER than her because she represents REAL & Strong business Women clawing their way to the Top...She'll Fuck it all up if she continues telling the Press that she did it by herself..If she humbles herself and remain sincere The Patti LaBelle Sweet Potato Pie could CHANGE the Game and she will leave a Magnificent legacy for her new Granddaughter...

Yeah I read about that too, that Ms. Labelle was saying that her pies were selling well before the video...umm no it wasn't. Most folks didn't even know that she had a pie selling in Walmart before Mr. Wright's video on YouTube was posted, in fact, another article stated that the pies weren't even selling well at all. It almost makes you wonder if the whole "review gone viral" thing was planned. hmmm

I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

nod I totally agree and disbelief at Patti's comments. She needs to stop saying those comments before they backfire on her and people stop wanting to buy her pies out of being turned off by her comments. Please Patti! Wasnt nobody checkin for your pies before the video came out cuz didnt nobody know you even HAD a pie out at Walmart rolleyes Like I JUST found out that she had a pie that sold out at Walmart last week, just like most of America JUST found out about it. If it wasnt for James Wright's video those pies would still be sittin on the shelf. She needs to wake up and be gracious and thankful for the impact his video made on the sales of her pie.

I'll try it if I see it, but I'm not getting drug around by the nose by a pie, a Walmart one at that. This holiday either I'll make my own and put my foot in it or buy from someone local.

MEET THE REAL WOMAN AND CREATOR BEHIND PATTI LABELLE'S PIE
| Gerren Keith Gaynor | 11/23/2015 | 11:15 AM EST

Walmart senior buyer Kinna Thomas turns idea into goldmine
While the Internet continues to debate whether or not Patti LaBelle owes James Wright Chanel credit for the success of her pie, the real mastermind behind the sweet potato madness is a little-known woman by the name of Kinna Thomas.

Thomas is a senior buyer for cakes and pies at Walmart, and says it was her vision to improve the superstore's quality of baked goods. Two weeks into the job, she originally had the idea of creating a product birthed from her family recipe. But in the process of testing out pies, she got a better idea.

She ran the idea by Kerry Robinson, Walmart vice president for bakery and deli, and within 24 hours of reaching out to LaBelle, the partnership was a match made in heaven.

“We knew it needed Ms. LaBelle’s special touch as well,” Thomas tells Fortune.

PATTI LABELLE TAKES CREDIT FOR PIE SALE SPIKE, DOWNPLAYS VIRAL VIDEO

Though LaBelle's celebrity name gave the pie life, it was the golden touch of Chanel, YouTube personality and singer, that brought sales through the roof.

Though Walmart says sales were relatively well when it hit stores this past Spring, they sold one pie per second in a 72-hour span after Chanel's online review parody went viral with millions of page views.

Still, there would be no #PattiePie on Walmart shelves had it not been for the vision and execution of Thomas.

Major shout out to this business-savvy sista making moves in her industry.

I guess it depends on what you get. My experience is that the Carrot Cake bar is the bomb but my Mom and wife's version will put them to shame. Their Italian Cream
Cake just forget about it. It taste like something you buy out of the box. Now I've had their birthday cake before too and it's good but nothing beats that
female in your family that can make it from scratch and put that right amount of
butter and ingredients to make it moist. I've known a few females to make a dry ass
cake like some grocery stores.lol
You right about WalMart cakes bro. Their Italian Creme cake ain't hitting on shit.
If you gonna do Red Velvet don't fuck with any store brand. Forget about it.
They generally make it with Cocoa powder. Hell no. shake Get your mama, sister, wife,
aunt, or female cousin to do it.
