New to Game of Thrones: Need others to process with

Ok,thanks for granting me a 'late pass' to this extremely well written, midevial, gorefest of debauchery. Thank goodness for the local library that has the complete seasons on DVD. I've been binging over the last three weeks and I'm nearing the end of Season 3. Soooo many questions. Who'll endulge with me? How many seasons have there been? Is the 'red lady' a witch, seductress, or both? I'll stop here for now. Help!!!

I would just call her a sorceress and leave it at that. Though I don't think that's even correct for that world.

There's five seasons (with 10 episodes each). Season 5 will be released on dvd and blu March 15, 2016, though is available digitally now. Season 6 will start airing on HBO between late March and mid April.

so, the bloodletting NEVER quits in this show! man, i feel defiled a bit. they just slit lady starks throat. it catches you off guard. when i see certain things coming, i have to fast forward thru some stuff. i'll have to pace myself then thru season for since i have a ways to go before season 5 is available. are people considering this modern day j.r. tolkien? its pretty fantastic but the hyperviolence in today's culture is troubling, but i'm captivated

Game of Thrones is a Sci-Fi Nerds GREATEST Fantasy Drama...Many Nerds like myself blew it off for years...I still can't believe I never gave the show a chance the first season...I think I was so into Spartacus I could care less about some new show called Games of something..

Firstly, there is no need for racial slurs and secondly, you need to learn to SPaG correctly. Improve your spelling, punctuation and grammar and then try talking to me. I've got no time for 6 year old kids.

Its a roller coaster ride. George Martin is a king of building up what you THINK is going to happen and then pulling the rug from under you. I concur with the other poster that suggested stay away googling anything about the show. Its so much more impact and heartwrenching to experience it all without knowing whats around the corner.

Change it one more time..

'WOW!!!!' Game ON indeed! Just finished Season 4 on vacation in Orlando. Off to the library for season 5 on Monday, or maybe I should pace myself, don't want to do like I did with House of Cards and be waiting for 5 months!!

I begrudgingly watched the first season, didn't like it and swore I'd never watch it again. And yet, here I am, eagerly anticipating season 6...

It's weird, I still don't particularly like the show. I look forward to it and it just disappoints me everytime. It's not bad, just not as good as I convince myself it is. I do like the violence and the frequent nudity, but I hate when they kill off my favourite characters, which is far too often. Obviously, I won't name names so I don't ruin it for people, but I think there's like 2 characters left that I like. When they die, I really will be finished with this show and it will be back to rewatching the beautiful Timothy Olyphant in Justified. wink

In this era of television, I don't think producers are going for longevity so there are no "sacred cows" as far as characters go. It seems like the goal is 5-8 seasons and syndication. Not sure what the minimum of episodes required for syndication are (perhaps it varies by network) and apparently you can be in syndication WHILE new episodes are still being created, but I don't think GoT will be around long. Not that it can't be but it doesn't appear to be built for the longhaul. It looks to be very expensive to produce so with that said, I expect more jaw dropping moments until the very end.
