phunkdaddy dream came true

Steelers release draft-bust Archer, add Jacoby Jones

The Pittsburgh Steelers have given up on Dri Archer.

The team announced on Thursday they released the rarely used second-year running back and pass-catcher in order to make room for veteran return man Jacoby Jones.

Waived this week by the Chargers, Jones essentially replaces Archer as Pittsburgh's primary kick returner. After seeing Jones previously thrive in the AFC North as a member of the Ravens, the Steelers saw more in the 31-year-old specialist than Archer, who recorded the fastest 40 time at 2014 NFL Scouting Combine but failed to break out as a return man.

Jones, of course, has amassed 10,184 all-purpose yards, with 4,720 of those yards -- along with nine scores -- coming on kick and punt returns. Fans will remember that Steelers coach Mike Tomlin famously appeared to try and trip Jones along the sideline during a return two Thanksgivings ago.

Now they're on the same team.

That Larenz Tate lookalike had to be one of the worst draft picks in Steeler
history although a lot of fans are hard on Jarvis Jones. Dri had Overrated speed that never translated to the NFL. I never saw what made the Steelers draft this project out of Kent State in the 3rd round when they had other pressing needs.
He is the type of player you take a flyer on in the 6th or 7th round.

I think the final nail on the coffin for Dri Archer was those 2 bad returns during the Bengals game last sunday. Jarvis Jones does need to step up.

Colts are a hot mess - Luck has broken ribs, shoulder problems and is getting the shit kicked out of him every week. Great job by the GM surrounding his franchise QB with old skill players instead of young stud foundation offensive/defensive linemen. Sounds like Pagano(who obviously doesn't get along with the front office) is gone after the season.

JPP is back for the Giants this afternoon vs Tampa. Anything would be an improvement for our shit defense.

Lucky for the Colts the AFC South is weak so the Colts can win the division with a losing record

Yes, he will make some good catches but will end up with a concussion sooner or later.

Andrew Luck out 2-6 weeks with lacerated kidney

Andrew Luck's roller coaster season has taken a turn for the worse.

The Indianapolis Colts announced Tuesday that Luck will miss 2-6 weeks with a lacerated kidney and a partial tear of an abdominal muscle. The team says the injuries will not require surgery and a full recovery is expected.

He probably will. He's saying the foot feels better but expect the Steelers to
hold him out this week with a bye coming after the Browns game. I'd rather see him
rest the foot for two weeks.

Surprise team of the year this far. Defense is playing good ball. That Stefon
Diggs kid is making an impact. They are quietly winning and the good thing for the
Vikings is no one is noticing. I like the fact they are playing outdoors again.
It brings back memories of Fran Tarkenton, Carl Eller, Alan Page, Chuck Foreman,
and Sammy White at frigid Metropolitan stadium.

Ben said he is walking around and wants to play in the Browns game. Honestly I know what will happen, Ben will be non-mobile what so ever, getting sacked, throwing Interceptions and end up getting even more injured. Just not play that game, take the bye, then be healthy for the Seahawks game is the best bet in the long run.

I agree even though it's not inconceivable they could take a L against the Browns this

weekend, you just have to roll the dice with Landry and let Ben use that bye week to get

healthier. I'd rather have a healthy Big Ben going into Seattle coming off a bye rather than

him plodding around this Sunday and getting hit risking further injury.

True.

All 3 components. Cutler had more talent the last few seasons and they went nowhere.

Don't believe me watch Stephen A. Smith's take on Cutler on First Take. lol

Lucky 4 me.....I actually understand how football games are won.

The last 5 games, Cutler lead the Bears from behind 2 take a lead.

In each case, when he left the field, the Bears had a lead.

No QB can do more than that.

The defense promptly falls apart in the last 2 minutes of the Minnesota and Detroit game. Who takes the blame? Cutler.

Who cares what know nothings like Smith thinks? Do u ever notice how he makes excuses for defense, special temas, injuries and coaches when teams like Green bay loses, but when the Bears lose, it's ALL CUTLER.

No one said that Cutler is a scrub. He just seems to make that crucial mistake when it

matters most. I know the defense sucked last year but the prior two years they

were pretty good. Offensively last year they didn't do a lot with the talent they had.

Cutler had 2 six foot 4 WR Marshall and Jeffrey, a 1500 yd all purpose back Forte,

a 6-6 TE Martellus Bennett and the offense struggled mightily. Cutler threw 18 INT's.

A few may have not been on him but come on his history shows. Don't put it all on the

offensive line either. The O-line is definitely important but I've seen the Steelers win

the 2009 Super Bowl with one of the worst offensive lines in the league that year.

No pro bowlers and a bunch of mid level draft picks. None of those guys except Ramon

Foster is on the Steelers roster now.

Okay I was off on the defense by one year. Still doesn't explain Cutler's ineptitude last season but

if you're okay with him. Cool. Don't try convincing TD3 that Cutler is without some blame. lol

U do realize that the head coach 4 the Bears was probably the worst coach in the NFL last year.
