the bible clearly mentions the four corners of the earth

so either it's a square or like this:

in fact, I already gave water proof evidence for flat earth in a thread ten years ago razz

http://www.prince.org/msg/105/146124

sadly sosgemini locked it up, because the thought I was making fun of Creationist "science" as brought to us by my favorite orger back then, Eternaldragon worship

LMFAO at the sheer number of people that would have to in on the conspiracy to make this work. And it could all be brought down by one guy with a little money and his own jet, who could fly to the end of the Earth, take a picture, and make funkcreep look like he knows what he's talking about.

But that's never happened? Why not?

BTW funkcreep - I live near the Johnson Space Center. I know a couple dozen astronauts and probably 300 or so NASA engineers. None of them has ever said, "Guess what? I'm not supposed to tell anyone this, but the Earth is flat!" LOL.

The Legion of Doom once turn the Earth flat (not really sure why they did that...... a bunch of jerks maybe???) but we turned it back

Look again. They are mountains, the lady who took the video obviously would know if she was filming clouds or mountains. Plus I just watched it again....they are mountains seen from over 100 miles away which would be impossible on a global earth.

Why can't the southern cross be seen from the so called "northern hemisphere"? A flat earth would neccessetate the same night sky. No? I'm in New Zealand. When I speak to my mum in London late at night and she says it's sunny outside where she is. How does that work? Or is she in on the conspiracy. Or am I? And New Zealand doesn't even exist. It's pretty simple stuff. You have thought about this stuff before you've brought these concerns here yes?

Another proof of a flat earth: Airplane nagigation

Airplane pilots fly as though the earth were a plane. Pilots reach their desired altitude and maintain it effortlessly for hours, never contending with anything like 2,777 feet per minute of forced inclination due to earths curvature.

Instead of name calling...answer this:

The horizon always rises to the eye level of the observer as altitude is gained, so you never have to look down to see it. If Earth were in fact a globe, no matter how large, as you ascended the horizon would stay fixed and the observer / camera would have to tilt looking down further and further to see it.

The horizon gets further away the higher you are obviously. Come on, focus so until your at very high altitude that difference is imperceptible. You can just see more of it. Now. My questions please.

You answered my question, but it was the wrong answer. The horizon always stays at eye level. The next time your on a plane, take a look at the horizon. do you have to look down (which is how it should be on a global earth) or does it remain at eye level?

okay maybe it's not impossible that our human perception of 'round' is distorted and actually our world is more like a slice of a sphere; some say it's possible the universe folds in layers. so maybe in a relative-dimension kind of way the earth could be considered to be flat, as we do not yet know how to measure more than six? dimensions, and some say there are 64 dimensions? nor do we truly understand our place therein. however for me personally, given the multiple examples of spherical shapes forming everywhere around us in our observable physical world and the fact that the formation of matter into spherical shapes also appears to be the norm in other spiral galaxies, i would have to say i believe that the earth is round. thank you. that is all.

No. It doesn't stay at eye level if you go high enough. What a stupid assertion.

Have you ever travelled by sea to another land mass?

This belief amazes me and I'll tell you why.

Let's take similarly bizarre denialist beliefs in the face of overwhelming evidence. Denial in evolution or an old earth for example. Despite the similarities it's easy to understand the motivation for these positions. Their entire world view requires these things to not be true so it's very motivated reasoning. But what's the angle for flat earthers? Why the desire to ignore the evidence and maintain such an absurd Belief? Is is just contrarianism? That's posh for trolling for attention.

Seriously, no more than a week ago I was travelling with my son and we were commenting on how much a group of clouds looked exactly like a mountains in the distance.

Also, I looked up the mountains it was supposed to be...they do not match...could not find angle where it did.

LMFAO, you're awesome.

Do you believe that if a rocketship were to travel to a point in space - be it the moon, or the ISS, or the Hubble - that you just point the craft at that destination, light fires, and go?

Everything from here on out depends on how you answer that question.

I'm curious, to those that believe in this conspiracy, what would be the motivation to deny the world is flat?
