Have you ever been fired from your job?

And if so, why?

Yes, once. A big bank I worked for screwed me out of a large commission, and then stated that I didn't meet my quartery sales quota (No kidding! The commission was equal to a whole year's quota!). They "graciously" offered me the chance to resign but I told them nope. So I was terminated. I should have sued them; in fact, that was the reason I didn't resign. I figured resigning would take the teeth out of any lawsuit I filed.

But I never sued them. I got busy with other things but looking back, I should have at least had an attorney send them a nasty letter and a demand for some money.

Mixing cocktails incorrectly.
Insubordination to inferiors.
Disinterest in the job.

To my credit I've been fired a couple of times.

Yep. I was going through a major depression at the time, wasn't going through the steps to take better care of the situation, and couldn't have given any less of a #$!@* about that gig -- all making me an awful employee.

In retrospect, I THANK GOD that career trajectory was averted, but I definitely could have been more professional -- not to mention just healthier in general -- in handling my problem.

There's still a huge social stigma attached to getting fired. Lol.

I was fired from my high school job at KFC, in 1992. This chick named Maria was scheduled to work Tuesday, I was scheduled to work Saturday. She asked if I would switch and I agreed; I worked her Tuesday shift, then the bitch no-showed my Saturday shift. The manager called me and told me to come in; I explained the situation and that the assistant manager signed off on the switch. The manager said, "Be here in 30 minutes or dont come back" and hung up on me. I explained it to my father, and he said, "Fuck em!" I was worried because prom was coming up and all that, but my father "sponsored" me for the rest of my senior year and I never went back.

Make it so, Number One...

I've never been let go for cause, but I've been permanently laid off a couple of times.

Yes. It's still a trauma.

99% of my posts are ironic. Maybe this post sides with the other 1%.
