*Celebs who are notorious for avoiding the public eye somehow end up as guest stars on Fox’s “New Girl.”
Earlier this year, Prince actually spoke words in a hyped post-Super Bowl episode.
This week, the show welcomes a guest turn from actress Lisa Bonet, the “Cosby Show” and “A Different World” alum whose last TV sighting was on the Sundance Channel in March, delivering a multi-episode arc on her husband Jason Momoa’s series “The Red Road.” (It returns for a six-episode second season in 2015).
At the time, the series marked her first work in six years, after recurring as Det. Maya Daniels in ABC’s short-lived drama “Life on Mars” in 2008.
On “New Girl,” Bonet’s character will interact with Jess (Zooey Deschanel) and Coach (Damon Wayans, Jr.) when they attend a teacher’s conference.
“My character is teaching this educational seminar, and she’s attempting to get the educators to get to know each other better, to get connected. And also, I think, really recognize the importance and the responsibility that they have as teachers and the impact that they can have on students’ lives,” said Bonet, who turned 47 on Sunday (Nov. 16).
Below, Bonet talks about finally returning to her sitcom roots:
Lisa Bonet’s episode of “New Girl” airs Tuesday, Nov. 18, at 9 p.m.
I had a BIG crush on Lisa when she was on Cosby. Even though a friend of mine said she doesn't have a personality! What does her personality have to do with it? I'm glad she is returning to TV.
