Social Media is shocked that Patti LaBelle is playing a Maid on American Horror Story Comment: "I would like to know how they got Patti to agree to be a maid. What's the paycheck looking like?"
Comment: "Why they got my Girl Patti as a servant on AHS??"
Comment: "Only in Ryan Murphy's universe would Queen Patti LaBelle be playing a MAID."
Comment: "Miss Patti is too good to be a housekeeper."
Comment: "Is that Patti playing the help?"
Comment: "Wow Patti is really playing a maid. I'm not watching this trash television program anymore."
Comment: "Patti plays a Maid on AHS. She's so much better than that, it feels insulting. I don't know why on earth she would agree to that."
The comments above were made by Black Males/Females on a Social Media site. If I could talk to the people above I'd tell them that Patti's Mother & Grandmother were REAL maids...She's honoring them...She was personally called by the show's creator and she accepted the 4-episode offer....It's 2014 people and we need to stop thinking our Favorite Celebs are too whatever to tackle roles that make us uncomfortable..Their Entertainers...(I'm DVR'ing all 13 episodes so I havent seen anything..Each episode is a freaking 1hr-30min).. | |

Right lol And because she was Patti LaBelle she thought she should/could sing Purple Rain. WRONG Patti LaBelle is not a trained actress, she not an actress, so why would they think she could/should play a different part. In the few times I've seen her in a role she's basically been Patti LaBelle

Similar comments were made when Octavia Spencer won her Supporting Oscar for playing a Maid in "The Help"...We all know the Late Hattie McDaniel was the first Black person to win an Oscar and she played a Maid...When some Blacks see Black actors take on roles as Maids, Drug Dealers or the token side-kick they roll their eyes and call it "the same'OL, Same'OL"....I'll admit that I've done it. When I see a Horror flick and the Black character dies early sometimes I say to myself "Knew that was coming"....When AHS creator Ryan Murphy decided to cast Patti as The Maid he had to have known people would talk...I'm glad Patti accepted the role even if she said "yes" over the phone before finding out character details. Patti is known to be a Class act when it comes to her Projects and I'll bet you she didn't flench when she learned more about the storyline.. | |

Patti is setting back African Americans a HUNDRED YEARS by taking this role!
I am VERY disappointed in her. She should be playing a better role than that!!

Patti had a recurring role in a TOP TEN sitcom!! So that sounds like an actress to me....Plus countless movie roles. Plus she has her SAG card...Also she has a broadway resume..

Anyone CAN'T get a SAG card! It's not as easy as you think. Even the casting couch isn't working anymore. I read an article online where AHS creator Ryan Murphy said that "Diana Ross should be looking for a call for his next installment"...He just put it out there for it to get back to her....Now we know Diana won't be playing a Maid and I don't think he would fix his Lips to ask her to play one or even write a role for her to play one....I could be wrong but I think Ryan knowns better than to TRY Ms. Ross like that....Tyler Perry has been BEGGING Diana to accept a movie offer and he said he told her he would write the script or create the Project just for HER...He said she hasnt given him a NO but she definitely hasnt said yes to anything..... | |

Diana Ross, just like Janet Jackson, can pick and chose what they want to do. They both married multi-billionaires. They don't have to work the rest of their life's if they don't want to. Diana has already proven herself as a GREAT, Oscar nominated actress anyway. She will not be starring in any Tyler Perry or Ryan Murphy film EVER ..
To Patti's credit she doesn't have that luxury like them. But she can do BETTER than that. It's mortifying to me, that she is doing this! The maids, butlers & "Driving Miss Daisy" roles need to STOP right here.
