Really enjoyed this.Set in the future where humans are engineered by society to be the same.Everybody has a dictated purpose in life and there is no war or love or lying and you have to take a daily injection to suppress all your emotions. I'm probably making it sound bad but its worth a look. No major plot by better than I expected. Well worth a look.

I can't see how you may not like it. I'd say give it a whirl. I may have to put in a disclaimer at the end of my reviews for you. I dare you to not like it. It's inoffensive and light. An Oscar winner if I ever saw one. Meryl Streep,Jeff Bridges,Katie Holmes and Alexander Skarsgard and even Taylor Swift star.

Wanted to watch it with the Hubster since he and our mutual best friend toured with Bobby Bird in Europe his later years. It was pretty good. Like a kind of 3 1/2-er out of 5 stars. Perhaps in keeping true to James Brown, I can report that neither of us understood about half of what the hell Chadwick Boseman was saying during the entire movie

Beyond... is an A+ movie in my world, & Faster gets the silver medal. Never seen Mondo Topless though, a gap I want to fill sooner rather than later. The later films I've seen all seem to suffer from diminishing returns, though that's never kept me from watching them repeatedly. Vixen from '68 is great fun if you overlook some tacky racial/political 'commentary.'

Get On Up was the last movie I watched as well. Others here complained about the nonlinear narrative, but that didn't bother me at all. I thought it added some flash to the film which other recent biopics that came to mind while watching this one sorely needed (The Butler, 42). 1/2

Years ago I watched half of Lorna, but the DVD player ate the disc and I never got the chance to finish it. Motorpsycho looks interesting. That one was always next on my list of Russ Meyer films to see.

The Wolf Of Wall Street (2013)

Great performances by DiCaprio and Jonah Hill. A little more fantastic and absurdist than Scorcese flicks. But enjoyable all the same. Kudos to Matthew McConoughey for a near-Oscar-worthy turn (is he having the best year of any actor this century? the case can be made)

I really stayed away from Woody's films for most of my life because I'd heard they'd largely ignored black and brown folk. But I enjoyed one or 2 of his movies as a kid in the 70s, and I'm glad I gave them a chance. His misses are better than most directors' hits.

Regardless of his many flaws -- some probably real, some probably not -- he is to me unbelievably talented (I do think he is partially responsible for the modern romantic comedy), prolific through great consistency, and very humble about his art. He constantly self deprecates his films (that he writes, directs, and often stars in), even going so far as to claim that the only thing about them which will likely stand as they age are the backgrounds. I think we all spend far too much time worrying about how awful we look as compared to those who inspired us. Woody's pictures do pale in comparison to Fellini or Bergman, but so do theirs when held up against his. That you gave something a chance that you liked some as a kid is the way we should all strive to be.

I had little to choose from on a plane and just wanted something that wouldn't be too difficult or challenging. I love Turturro.

Finding Fela (2014)

Literally a revelation for someone only slightly acquainted with him and his work. It gave a 360-degree portrait of the man and his legacy in music, as well as the powerful onstage and behind-the-scenes footage of the making of the Broadway show.

Roma città aperta / Rome, Open City (1945) - In Rome, 1944, leaders of the resistance are tracked down by the Nazis.

What a particularly bleak piece of Italian Neorealism. Very powerful. 1/2

The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug (2013)

I saw this last also...not my genre, but it got some good reviews. It was a bit slow paced for me, which seems to be a charactoristic of this genre. 2.5 out of 5.
