The Skyscrapers thread

Why not? shrug

So...I came across the following image of a skyscraper being built in Indonesia;

How COOL is that?

Currently there are plans to build skyscrapers all over the world (mostly in Asia) and they all look the same to me. Either pointy spires, blocky visions of the Sears Tower, or giant mirrored phalluses.

The Peruri 88 building, to me, is magnificent. Like an abstract sculpture. If they go ahead with the green spaces as shown above...how awesome is THAT?

Here are more being planned;

Mubarak al-Kabir Tower, Subiya, Kuwait.

Lotte World Tower, Seoul, South Korea.

GIFT Diamond Tower, Gandhinagar, India.

Buenos Aires Forum, Buenos Aires, Argentina.

New York is getting some nice new Skyscrapers - I don't mind that they are plain or boxy. Theres a massively tall super skinny one thats going up now.

Very cool thread. Two projects that have impressed me recently are the Bosco Verticale in Milan...

...and the Arbre Blanc in Montpelier, France (Perhaps not a skyscraper, but certainly a highrise luxury apartment complex)...

I like the Space Needle.

In the past the Space Needle was a radio station and someone once lived in it as a condo. How kewl would it be to live in the Space Needle?
