What's your home sound system like?

Just persuaded my wife to get rid of our 1000-year-old stereo with cassette player, CD player and AM/FM tuner. I'd like to go more streamline and wireless.

What are you guys using? Any recommendations?

I recommend a good, xpensive system, better safe ($) than sorry

and don't forget the subwoofer (I want the bass and drums making the floor shake)

What components do you use?

I can't say we even have a proper one!

We have computer speakers on 3 desks with subwoofers.

The tvs have old stereos (like my old sony mini shelf system) to play the sound through. The kitchen one has a second hand amp from eBay and some enormous kit Vifa speakers. We can listen to CDs on the DVD player or on USB from that tv.

And various iPod docks.

I only ever listen to music when I work, drive or cook.

My inner child is horrified.

How much did you guys pay for your Bose systems? And what pieces do they include?

The thing is I don't do a ton of listening at home these days, and I also live in a flat where crazy bumping music wouldn't fly with my neighbours. I just want a setup that sounds decent, is a bit less clunky than our old component set, and is wirelessly compatible with our various devices.

The last stereo component I bought was a receiver - and that was about eight years ago. Just to give you an illustration of how not into sound equipment I am, my current receiver replaced one my dad bought in 1974 - which I used until it died. Hell, I'm still using a turntable he got back then (though I have replaced the cartridge). lol

I have a 6-disc CD player from around 1993 and my speakers are old as dirt. But I live in a small townhouse that doesn't really require a huge system. Usually, if I want to listen to music upstairs, I plug my iPad into a pair of portable JVL speakers I got when I bought my first laptop in 2004.

Did I mention I'm not really into sound equipment? I have a great collection of shoes, though! lol

As much as I agree with you, I won't allow myself or my family and friends to support The beat's brand. I know too much about how they are made, how much they cost to make, and how they are ripping off consumers in order to support a lifestyle.

That is pretty much across the board with all products and the American way, but I can at least control this purchase.

That is all. trolls
