ipod transfer software....wth?

So im trying to copy the songs on my ipod to my comp, as well as a usb stick for safe keeping. I downloaded 2 different programs...one was idump classic...one was copyKat?......anywho..they were BOTH trial versions. sad

i remember years ago finding a great program but cannot remember the name of it!!

very simple & basic (like me) wink

i cannot stand itunes so dont tell me to go there. I have an ipod nano (2nd gen)

any advice would be great.

WTF. Dammit! mad

I don't think there are any more "free" iPod transfer software left then. Tell everyone just purchase an external hard for your iTunes music only. I got caught once when a hard drive went south and iDump (when it was free) save my ass. lol

All songs on iTunes should already be on your computer...it is much easier to copy THOSE files and put them on another source, like an external harddrive or thumbdrive. An easy way to find out where those files are is to right click on a song, go to "get info" and under the "summary" tab, at the very bottom, you will see a "where" line. That is the path to follow to find these files. Once you find one, you will find them all, since they all follow the same path except for the artist/cd/song title. Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind.

I use Sharepod. It is really user friendly and works perfect for backing up your music.

It's not that easy to transfer music from iPod to Computer.

You may try to find some 3rd-party to do this.

I used a tool to do the transferring called iOS Transfer which can do more than iTunes.
