I'm still not moved to trade in my iPhone 4 for a iPhone 5S. The only change is a doggone fingerprint button. I'll wait and see what the iPhone 6 a year from now will be like.

I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

I'm curious to see how much more improved ( if at all) the 5s runs with ios7 than my my 4s

It would literally have to be gauge difference.
All my adapters are for 4s even my car stereo

I think its all rather amusing that people have been screaming about civil liberties and government spying.....then a device comes out that will store your fingerprints on a database that the NSA have the encryption key to. The result, thousands of people pouring out of shops wooping and cheering, waving their new liberty taker in the air!

Nope. The fingerprint is stored on the device only.

To Apples credit, they understood people would not react kindly to their fingerprints being uploaded to any database, so they've made it that it is only stored in one location - on a chip within each iphone, with no backups.

And we were assured out banking data / personal data etc was safe. If its recorded on any digital device, someone will work out how to get it.

As we speak, there is a crowd sourced project that pays whoever is able to hack the fingerprint ID on on he the new iPhone. The payout is 15 thousand and growing to the first person to hack it.

Well one thing that sucks since the download that I noticed is that now when I want to listen to music on my phone through the bluetooth, I have to actually press play from my phone in order for the music to start, whereas before, it would automatically play which is how it is supposed to work. Defeats the whole purpose of playing music from the bluetooth capability. Urgh.

I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

Is the Bluetooth setting on, in the phone settings? Cause I'm not having that issue.

Yep the Bluetooth setting is definitely set to "on" both in my car and on my phone. I even checked to see if my phone was still paired to my car and it still was. shrug

I accidentally discovered that if you swipe up from the bottom it brings up a sort of control panel of often used utilities. I kind of like that

But the phone can be remotely locked if it is stolen, so if someone goes to the effort of fabricating a finger print and using on a stolen phone, it will be of no use.

The remote controlling features are the best part about the phones security. The finger print unlock is great because it's extremely fast and convenient for the user.

convenience, yes. as used on plenty of non Apple-devices and computers since years

Apple however wanted to sell this as the biggest invention since sliced bread. and they bragged about the GREAT security improvement. and that was hogwash. nice gimmick, that's what it is, nothing, more nothing less.

As used on plenty of devices that next to no one knows about. We all know One of Apples great skills is bringing next gen tech to mass market and making it work better than anyone else previously. Time will tell whether this is another of those moves that all the other phone companies suddenly jump on board with.

What's easier, looking over someone's shoulder at their pass code or recreating their finger print? I'd say the former, which would mean finger print unlocking is still an improvement.

Anyway, this test needs to be corroborated by some other experiments before we pass judgement. This test could be garbage for all we know.

No one knows about? There was finger entry on the leading PDA's 10 years ago (IPAQ...notice the name too). There have been finger scanners on lenovo laptops for the last 5. My Windows tablet PC in 2007 had one (and a touch screen).

Apple fans fail to see anything that isn't on a Apple, then claim they have revolutionised everything.

I see the iphone finger scanner has been cracked in a day. 9 million people have given their prints to the NSA already. Something the cops couldn't do for love nor money.

When hasn't Apple ever not hyped anything and everything they do? Look, we switched the button from the right to the side, innovation! lol

I think these so called security features aren't for the experienced hacker / computer geek, its for the novice criminal. Any computer device can be hacked. shrug If some are really concerned about NSA, folks would have swithed to Linux and/or at least opt out of the serves of FB, Goggle, Microsoft, or Yahoo, but most folks can't bother to switch browsers.

All I can go from is experience and I've never met anyone who owns or uses a finger print scanning device (except a policeman).
