Does anyone actually name their kid "Tammy" anymore? When I was a kid, I went to school with a ton of girls named "Tammy". But as an adult I can't remember the last time I met anyone named Tammy. Actually, just the sound of the word "Tammy" sounds goofy as hell lol...

The popularity of this name in the 60s is connected to the series of "Tammy" movies from that era. Debbie Reynolds played Tammy first (in 1957), then Sandra Dee. There was also a Tammy TV show that ran for a season or two. (I can't remember who was in that.)

I went to high school with a Tami and a Tammy. I think the latter might have been short for Tamara but the first one was not.

I met several women named Tammy, two were named "Tammy" and not Tamara. All of these women are in their 40's.
I think names go in cycles... don't recall seeing a Socorro, Beulah or a Mildred in a woman under 60. | |

the last Tammy i knew was in high school. she had a hormoneddeficiencyor summin...poor girl never went through puberty. at 17 she still looked 12. not just flat...but she looked kiddish. ..just plain young. i wudda though her parents would have done some kind of horemon supplement therapy, but it didnt appear to have happened. | |
