The first sidekick I thought of when I saw the thread was Kato. Then Spock. So I think it's a 3-way for me.
But then I thought of my grandmother's old shows and the new Lone Ranger so Tonto definitely has to have a spot!

There are some great ones here. I don't know why Tonto was the first to come to mind, I don't think I've ever seen The Lone Ranger maybe when I was a very young child, but he immediately came to mind. Then I thought of Higgins from Magnum PI  I was crazy about the show way back when. | |

Maybe I'm wrong in doing so for this exercise, but I view a sidekick as defined:
1) A person's close associate, esp. one who has less authority (The Skipper had absolute authority over Gilligan, therefore I always viewed Gilligan as The Skipper's sidekick)
Synonyms:
MATE (Gilligan was The Skipper's "First Mate")
BUDDY (The Skipper frequently referred to Gilligan as "Little Buddy")
