hmmm nod love

The first sidekick I thought of when I saw the thread was Kato. Then Spock. So I think it's a 3-way for me. wink

But then I thought of my grandmother's old shows and the new Lone Ranger so Tonto definitely has to have a spot!

Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind.

There are some great ones here. I don't know why Tonto was the first to come to mind, I don't think I've ever seen The Lone Ranger maybe when I was a very young child, but he immediately came to mind. Then I thought of Higgins from Magnum PI shrug I was crazy about the show way back when.

This is the only sidekick I know that had their name alone in the show's title:

I have and while it has moments (Colonel Wilma Deering and Princess Ardala spring to mind, shocked) overall it was pretty limited and season 2 is just terrible!!

Maybe I'm wrong in doing so for this exercise, but I view a sidekick as defined:

1) A person's close associate, esp. one who has less authority (The Skipper had absolute authority over Gilligan, therefore I always viewed Gilligan as The Skipper's sidekick)

Synonyms:

MATE

(Gilligan was The Skipper's "First Mate")

BUDDY

(The Skipper frequently referred to Gilligan as "Little Buddy")

There's no rule that says a sidekick can't be the star of the show, right? wink

It was so horrendous that the pick makes sense.

Not to mention his Wookie family, which in hindsight made the Sopranos look like the Cleavers.
