Living in England I don't have to go far to get to another country.

I've been to many places within Europe - Turkey being the furthest from home so far. Later in the year I am heading to Florida. In a few years I am sure i'll be visiting New Zealand and a few other places in Europe. I love to travel - mainly to guarantee myself at least a week of continuous sunshine a year on our family holiday But I just like seeing other countries and experiencing it all. My kids love travelling to other countries - I love that they take an interest in other languages and cultures.

I've done a fair bit of traveling abroad and have lived for seven years outside of my native United States with no immediate plans to return.

Some travelers like to hold their excursions over others like they are somehow made a superior breed for having been to far-away places. That's ridiculous. Travel is neither necessary nor somehow intrinsically enriching to being a whoie person. What I have found, though, is that travel, if done correctly, can be an invaluable resource for gaining a more wholistic appreciation of the size of the world, the impact of history, the unity of humanity, and the gifts of varied cultural contexts.

And I agree we often take for granted the richness of life much closer to us. Interesting thing: Travel can bring that out, too. I'm never more acutely aware of my "American-ness," its trappings, its assets and liabilities than when I'm away from the States. And I'm never more acutely aware of the cultural nuances and colours of my particular region of the U.S. than when I occasionally return there after a period of being away.

Some of the best experiences in my own city are when friends from out of town are visiting and I go sightseeing with them.

I think the farthest that I have been from my home town was when I took a trip to Oregon.

If you want an experience that is accommodating of any lack of French mastery you might have, Montreal is great. Nearly 60% of Montrealers are French-English bilingual.

If you want something a bit more immersive, Quebec City is the place to go. Around 35% of folk there are French-English bilingual. (And fewer would probably be nice enough to actually use their English. )

Both towns are fun and have quite beautiful stretches of architecture and natural scenery. Montreal has a cosmopolitan big-city vibe; Quebec City has a smaller, somewhat more cloistured French Alpine feel.

I know for a fact Future Days is the one Can album she has heard. It was also the first Can album I heard which opened me up to getting the previous ones even though they sound very different.

Growing up in Iowa, our family vacations consisted of places we could drive to, usually west: Yellowstone, Grand Tetons National Parks (WY); Colorado; St. Louis, the Ozarks (MO); Mt. Rushmore and the Badlands (SD); Minnesota. I've also been visited New Orleans, Washington DC (several times), Boston, Philadelphia, and LA.

When I was in college I studied for a semester in Cannes, France and traveled to England, the Netherlands, Belgium Italy, Monaco, Switzerland, and Spain, as well as all along the French Riveria.

In the past few years I've been lucky enough to go to the St. Barthemely in the French West Indies a few times and also return to Italy. I have lived in New York for almost ten years and barely travel along the east coast. It's too hard without a car.

I'd like to travel more but it's difficult to coordinate a trip with my partner's schedule so I don't get to travel as much as I'd like. Neither of my parents, nor my brother, have ever been outside the US. My parents did go to Hawai'i a year and a half ago, which was pretty adventurous for them. They usually stick to Florida or places they can drive to (like I listed). My mom is going to London for about a week this summer for her job so she had to get a passport. I think she is quite nervous; she wanted me to go with her but the dates she is going are the worst time for me at work so I can't go.

I am afraid of heights anyway so... but yeah,all of the above. I have flown twice in my life,once was when my uncle took us kids for a flight above our town,and the other was when I went to Disneyland,but both were really short trips. If I had to be on a plane for hours,I would probably have to be sedated.
