I've defended 'Signs' before, but the movie is not a sci-fi, nor a horror.

It's an allegory for they way we see calamities in our lives. It's literature.

I like the movie, but I never judge M. Knight Shastaburger's movies as

sci-fi or thrillers, but as literary statements. shrug

I would say that with each subsequent movie, M. Knight seems to delve deeper and deeper into making "statements" as opposed to simple blockbusters.
