Keenen Ivory Wayans & Damon Wayans

His first meeting in the comedy world was with another up and coming comic, also out of New York City. Eddie started stand up in 1976 and in 1977, meets Keenen Ivory Wayans at a comedy club. Eddie goes up to Keenen and says "I thought I was the only funny black comic in NY, now I see there are two."

Eddie may or may not have been instrumental in Keenen landing a development deal with NBC Studios in 1981 as Eddie was the NBA's SNL by 1980. That deal led to his acting debut in the 1981 series "Irene" and in 1983's "Fore Love and Honor". Eddie was on NBA's Saturday Night Live in 1980.

Eddie gave Damon Wayans his first acting role in 1984's "Beverly Hills Cop."

Eddie may or may not have been instrumental in Damon filling Eddie's shoes as the token black guy on SNL in 1985 and 1986. Or maybe Keenen got him on, seeing he was still under NBC's devepment deal at that time ...

Keenen is the producer and co-writer of Eddie's 1987 Box Office record breaking RAW stand up special.

Keenen was to star in a film with Eddie Murphy titled "Quest." It was later retitled "Coming To America" and featured their friend Arsenio Hall.

Keenen and Damon are members of what Eddie Murphy calls "The Black Pack."

Keenen actually ruined Eddie's red suit he wore on Delerious. Eddie dared him to wear it out on the town one night, and stay in character. Well, Keenen is like 6 inches taller than Eddie and a little more buff then him ... lol.

On Arsenio Hall's show, Eddie says the reason he stopped doing stand up was because of cat's like Damon Wayans.

As you know, comedic actor Eddie Murphy has moved on from his relationship with TV Rocsi Diaz, and is dating new girlfriend, who’s been spotted out in public as of late, name is Paige Butcher. Initially, folk (*raises hand*) couldn’t figure out who this new blonde bombshell is/was.

But according to reports, Rumor has it that the 33-year-old Australian model use to date high-profile celebrities Russell Simmons and model Tyson Beckford. Fast forward to the present day and all seems to be well with Eddie and Paige. And if they love it, well then we should too–right?

Robert Townsend

Eddie and Robert Townsend met each other at a NYC comedy club in 1979. Robert is from Chicago.

In 1980, Robert auditioned for Saturday Night Live and new executive producer Jeam Domanian gave him the spot as Garret Morris' replacement. Eddie also auditoned and actually lost out to Robert. But after much pushing from other staff members, they would convince her to give Eddie the shot and he premired in the 4th episdoe.

PS. Also audioning that season as a token black guy. the underrated (and late) Charlie Barnett who was on before both Eddie and Robert. Charlie couldn't get it because he could not read.

PPS. Jim Carrey also audioned that year for SNL.

In 1987's "Hollywood Shuffle" directed by Townsend and co-written with Keenen Ivory Wayans, Robert tells of how he and other black actors are tycasted as to be like "Eddie Murphy."

Eddie Murphy was to guest host "The Late Show" starring Joan Rivers, who was just axed. Instead, he hinted at the idea of Robert Townsend and Keenen doin the gig.

Also in 1987, Eddie Murphy produced a HBO comedy showcase called "Uptown Comedy Express." Robert is stand up performer on the special.

Robert Townsend is the director of the highest grossing box-office stand up special, RAW.

Eddie and Arsenio meet each other in 1981.

Eddie is a guest on "The Late Show" which Hall hosted for it's final 3 months.

PS. Robert Townsend was a rotating host for a week before Hall took over.

Eddie is working on a film with Keenen Ivory Wayans titled "Quest." It was later retitled "Coming To America" and featured Arsenio Hall.

Arsenio Hall is cast in Eddie Murphy's (so far) lone film that he directed, "Harlem Nights."

A film, "The Butterscotch Kid" staring Hall and directed by Murphy never saw the light/

Eddie creates a HBO special "Uptown Comedy Express" which include's Hall's stand up. It premiered May 9, 1987.

Eddie is a guest many times on "The Arsenio Hall Show."

In 1986, Chris Rock just happened to be at The Comic Strip in Manhattan. He wasn't performing that night ... Eddie Murphy happened to be there too. Eddie asked the manager of any black comics performing. HE said they have a comic named Chris Rock who works here but he isn't performing tonight. Eddie said "put him on next" ... and Eddie laughed the whole performance.

Eddie took him out to Hollywood with him the next weekend, and he was now hanging with the Black Pack.

Eddie put him on his special "Upwown Comedy Express" in 1987.

Eddie put him in his first film, "Beverly Hills Cop II" also in 1987.

His association with Eddie got him on "The Late Show" which was no hosted by Arsenio Hall.

His association with Eddie got him in the 1988 film "I'm Gonna Get U Sucka" by Keenen Ivory Wayans.

Eddie put him in the film "Boomerang" in 1992.
