Carrie. When that hand shoots out of that grave...

Easily the Exorcist.

The scariest thing about Carrie was Piper Laurie. I know people not too far off from her character.

Carrie scared me on some very primal levels. The fear of getting your first period, of getting it in school and everyone knowing (that actually happened to a girl in my class in 6th grade and it was really traumatic). And then not being popular and being noticed by a hot guy, the whole mean girl thing and being embarrassed in front of everyone.

And also, I agree-I have known people like Carrie's mom. Scary shit

Carrie had a hold different vibe... it was a slow build up to something.

The Exorcist, you knew something mysteries was going on and it was going to get stranger and scarier but couldn't necessarily know in what direction. The acting in this movie superb, Ellen Burstyn is one of my favorite actors.

ya, Carrie was a good movie, still like to watch it... but it didnt give me the heebie jeebies when the lights were off like the Exorcist... Of course being a very young catholic girl at the time it was the scariest thing I had ever seen! probably half of the fear was I was going to go to hell just for watching it.. lol Ahhh youth!

As far as a "jolt" scare I'm with scriptgirl on the hand coming out of the ground but neither scared/scares me overall. I enjoy them both immensely though.

"The Exorcist"..Saw it as a kid one night on cable. Couldn't sleep for a couple of nights. I read they handed out barf bags to people in the audience who became sqeamish.

But "Carrie" was almost on the same level. Sissy Spacek was creepy to look at after that role.

Another remake is coming soon with Julianne Moore (yum) as Carrie's mother.

The Exorcist for obvious reasons.

The most scariest scene was the spiderwalk scene because it was totally unexpected and came from out of nowhere. The sound of the demon's voice is what makes shivers go down my spine and that's why I love the movie. lol "What an excellent day for an exorcism".

The Exorcist by a long shot. I still can't watch that movie without looking away at some of the more scary/disturbing parts.

Carrie was a nice scary movie.

The voice is what scares me the most as well. Then combined with those crazy looking eyes... TOO MUCH!!!

I would have to say the Exorcist hands down, not scary like Halloween though, I can watch the Exorcist and be cool afterward

Carrie, is about a girl bullied and living with a crazy mother

Alot of that shown is what many people go through on different levels

I wasn't scared of Carrie, the mother yes, those high stairs the dark house

(didn't she -the mother remind you of Gayle Chapman(Prince keyboardist)

But Carrie I felt sorry for and cheered to a degree her revenge

But someone the movie called for her death because she took part in witchcraft

Again something about those 1970's movies just work

Triple or quadruple ditto to everybody else. While the hand coming out of the grave at the end of Carrie made me jump, that doesn't beat the Exorcist. I remember trying to watch it as a freshman in college with my cohorts. Let's just say I didn't make it to the end and kept covering my eyes and hiding under the covers. No nightmares tho. biggrin

Neither of those scared me because they could never be real or happen to me personally. I love "Carrie" though. I don't think I've ever sat through the entire "Exorcist" movie. I got bored with it.

falloff I knew she looked like someone but I couldn't put my finger on who it was. She sure does look like Gayle.

The Exorcist, without question, because of the obvious religious AND spiritual issues within the film.

For someone who is religious i think Exorcist will scare you a lot more, versus a lot of people who don't believe they don't find it as scary.

But it's a good story none the less cool

Carrie i find more disturbing then scary, when she kills her mom, and then her powers go crazy.. or she kills herself(I could never figure out exactly what happened) And it shows the view of that creepy fucking Jesus crucifix during it... seriously i'm not easily disturbed but that scene just makes me feel uneasy... i love it razz

Pistols sounded like "Fuck off," wheras The Clash sounded like "Fuck Off, but here's why.."- Thedigitialgardener
