Good Movies you refuse to see

So the witty movie thread got me to look up movies I want to rent/watch.

At the very, very bottom of this list is "Crazy, Stupid Love".

I've been told by three people that I should watch it, even DVR'd it, but can't bring myself to watch it. The trailer made me depressed. Just too close to home I think. I could be wrong, and I could enjoy it greatly, but I can't bring myself to do it.

I watched "Blue Valentine" for the first time and had to pour myself a vodka, so I get the feeling I'll need to be Under The Influence to watch this one as well.

disbelief

SO my fellow orgers...what about YOU?

Are there any good movies that you refuse to watch for a particular reason?

Define "good movie." I've never heard of the two you mentioned. lol

fishslap lol

I wanted to prevent people from just posting movies that they don't want to see because they suck.

I mean, a movie that you find interesting or has been recommended, but you refuse to see for whatever reason (personal reasons, hate the lead actor, don't like the genre, etc.).

Seen tiny bits and pieces, but after all the issues after it won all those awards, I haven't felt compelled to see the whole thing.

Yeah. But I also get like that over movies that get tons of hype.

Forrest Gump - for the longest time Tom Hanks just rubbed me the wrong way. I have not seen any films with him in it between Splash (1984) and Charlie Wilson's War (2007).

Any Harry Potter movie - I'm not into kids and wizards.

I've never seen any of those "Lord of the rings" movies and I never will.

Hey jedi, I thought Blue Valentine was a lot sadder than Crazy, Stupid, Love if that makes you feel a little less apprehensive...

If you will, so will I

Why would I refuse to watch a good movie?
Those are the only type of movies I want to watch. I hate bad movies. Just like I hate bad books, bad TV shows, bad anything.
Life's too short for bad shit.

There are some 'good' movies I won't see because I know I won't like them--like the Hangover. I know I will think it's dumb, I don't care how many people say it's good.

"Schindler's List"

I saw little clips and I KNOW this movie will bother me and I won't be able to forget it.

I saw "There Will Be Blood" and while it's a good movie, why?

Slumdog Millionaire

Schindler´s List

Harry Potter movies.

Lord of the Rings trilogy.

Most Bruce Willis movies. I do like some but I can´t stand that guy. He holds the dubious record of being the only actor whose film I had to turn off after twenty minutes. Happened three times with him. ( Hudson Hawk, Last Boy Scout, and some other stupid movie).

Avatar.

Citizen Kane. Been wanting to watch this for the longest time, and I´ve really, really tried and have given up several times, tried to watch the whole thing again last week because I thought I´d be mature enough to appreciate it but sorry, it is just incredibly boring. Still haven´t made it far enough to know what "Rosebud" meant. lol

Mission Impossible.

Star Wars

I mean, I don't know how good it "supposedly" is and I really have no interest in finding out. lol

"Star Wars":

Corny yet surprisingly good.

"Citizen Kane":

I thought it was very good. If you want to get technical what he did from a production standpoint is still impressive. Good dialogue.

I saw the first "Harry Potter" and refuse to see the others because I KNOW they can't measure up to the books.

I have yet to see "The Godfather", and I really want to.

Crazy Stupid Love is acually a feel-good movie, IMO

Haven't seen The Help yet. I know a lot of people said it was good, but all the controversy and commentaries have let me know what's in it and I'm just not in the mood for it these days.

I think I've seen everything else everybody's mentioned except The Hangover, I rarely enjoy those types of movies and a couple of Harry Potter ones.

Twilight, never. Vampires Suck told me all I needed to know.

Oh it looks like I haven't seen Crazy, Stupid Love either, but I just forgot about it, I'm not really avoiding it, but then I thought I heard it wasn't really all that good. I forgot.

I don't know if it's "good" but I am never going to watch Passion of the Christ. I saw the first few minutes, and it was just absurd. It's like Mel has a sadistic desire to see Jesus get hurt.

I didn't watch it but from he other room it was a lot of subtitled shouting.

I have a number of movies that I'll probably never bother watching:
Atonement
Antichrist
Dogville
Changeling
The Reader

I'm just never in the mood for them!

2 that were on that list were Grave of the Fireflies and Dancer in the Dark and I thought that was a good start, but my momentum was lost after those 2.
I'm the mistake you wanna make

OMG I feel the same way. Everyone in my family keeps telling me to see Forest Gump but I still can't bring myself to watch it. I am not a Hanks fan at all! The only movie I like that he was in was The Green Mile. I despised The DaVinci Code and A&D. I don't know what it is about him but I just won't watch him. shrug

Once again...I agree. My son keeps telling me to watch it and I'm like..uh...no thanks. talk to the hand

Oh yeah, The DaVinci Code, saw just enough to let me know I didn't want to see it.

I usually look @ the good movies....it's the bad ones I try to avoid nod. But who knows what's good truly if we haven't seen it ourselves to know? For me, it all comes down to if I am interested in the movie in the first place. So, there really isn't a "good" movie I refuse to see...thumbs up!

Refuse to see is a harsh term. I never say never. Of course, in this case, these are good movies I have very little interest in seeing:

Scarface

The Godfather

Breakin 2: Electric Boogaloo

Evita

Salvo

I will never watch this movie, mainly because I feel Denzel Washington should have won the Best Actor Oscar for "Malcolm X".

I dont care how good Pacino is in this flick...Denzel shoulda won!!!
