Chik-fil-a is a notoriously conservative Christian business... hence the whole closed on Sundays thing. So this really shouldn't be a surprise considering that background.

That said, they do have delicious food and their service is by far the best of any fast food place.

That's what kills me. It's like what do they expect to accomplish? Will they boycott McDonald's if it's found out they don't like gay folks as if everyone associated with the chain hates their guts? Fuck outta here.

There aren't any chik fil a's in Minnesota (that I know of), I don't eat chicken and I don't eat fast food, so this is pretty much moot for me.

BUT - I do my best not to support businesses that discriminate or who's business practices I don't agree with. I don't want my money going to anti-gay causes, therefore I won't purchase anything from a business that supports that.

I wonder if they specifically support the ban on gay marriage, or if they support religious groups that also happen to oppose gay marriage. It might seem like splitting hairs, but it makes a bit of difference to me.

The reason why all of this is nonsense, it really don't accomplish nothing. People just wanna be seen and heard. They're not so wanting to make real change but rather bring further discourse. I mean if it hurts you that bad, don't make no statement, just leave and eat somewhere else or buy groceries and eat at home. They said this back in 2010 that they were boycotting Chik Fil-A. So why the need to make this NEWS again?

It was incredibly difficult. I did consider quitting. I was pretty disillusioned for a while.

I didn't abandon them over one mistake, however. The CEO apologized and while I didn't fully accept it (then or now), the company overall has made steady steps forward ever since. They offer domestic partner benefits. They sponsor Pride here and activities in NYC and Seattle. They did pride t shirts this year and the entire purchase price (not just profits) went to a non-profit that supports gay families. There was a story out today that we offer same sex marriage greeting cards. And we feature same sex couples in wedding gift registry ads.

I am now involved with our LBGTA (A is for ally, that's me) council. I'm not ON the council, but I participate in events and such. It's all helped me feel better about the company I work for.

Well, to be fair they already sponsored Pride events and offered domestic partnership benefits before the questionable donation. I think that's why it came as such a shocker, because they'd been seen as a gay-friendly company previously.

But yes, they are certainly taking steps to make up for it. And even if it is about business, it's the right stuff, as you said.

Eh it's too far from me any way to drive for fast food. I only go when I go to the Home Depot across the street which I haven't had a need to go for a looong time.

Unless something has changed in the past 3 years, I don't even think that they are opened on Sundays, etc. But, the CEOs often express their own personal feelings on politics and such while the companies might have policies that are slightly are very contrary.

The donations made by the owner of Dominoes is one reason why I never ordered from them....the pizza itself was the main reason.

You know, folks were all up in JCpenny's grill from the opposite end of the fence, and there's this right-wing momentum that makes them think that they've achieved milestones in their war to "save America".

I think, even symblic gestures to show them that there are folks who simply won't put up with their bullshit...even symbolically, helps.

I certainly don't support Chik-fil-A, nor several businesses that are anti-Gay.

It astounds me that in the free, Western world, people still have yet to be given equal protections.

This Chick Fli-A guy is off his rocker...but anyone who is surprised by this has to also be off their rocker too. He is a well known ultra right wing "Christian" who studies the Bible. The stores close on Sunday. But, he is also entitled to speak his mind. If you don't like what he said don't go. I am gay, and have been to chick-fil-a as it was the closest thing near my work KNOWING their conservative views. Dig their spicy chicken sandwich, and their service is spectacular compared to other fast food joints. Will I go now? no, cause the dude pissed me off. Will I like not going? eh...really its no big deal...its a fast food joint. Now if the owner of Wildfire (chicago people know this place) said something like this? Or outwardly hated gays...I would have a REAL hard time banning THAT place. I think I would just have to hum while I ate my delicious food to try to forget where I was eating .

I never ate there in the first place but he can be as conservative as he wants to be, that's fine with me. If he ain't got the good sense to know he's a dumbass, that ain't my problem.

Where the problem comes in though, is when someone like that donates a large sum of money to groups that try to stop progress. If he doesn't believe in gay marriage, that's fine but to go so far as to donate money to try to prevent it from happening is sticking his nose in someone else's business. I'm gay myself and I think that marriage is just one of those things for straight people such as women being able to give birth to a child and a man can't. However, if it were put to a vote, I would vote for gay marriage because I am capable of being wrong in my view and more imporatantly, whoever someone else marries is none of my fucking business. So if he wants to prevent people from doing something, those same people have the right to try to convince people not to eat at his place and try to prevent him from making money. It works both ways.
