The Wire Appreciation Thread...

I know some of you guy's listed Omar as your favorite TV Character!

I Had some episodes of season 4 on my ipod that i watched randomly on my lunch breaks... and damn even though i consider my favorite show alongside The Sopranos & The X-Files(Eh i guess i will throw Six Feet Under & The Shield there to)

I still forget how damn good this show is! the writing is just.... amazing. I Think the way they play each season out slowly like a novel is fantastic, and the characters are all great cool

Which is strange considering how many characters there are!, and how each season adds new characters that you eventually either love or hate. Oh & all characters as mentioned are great but Omar is like my man smile

For me it was nice to see a non stereotypical gay character on TV, But besides that... Omar is the closest thing we ever saw to a straight up batman that seemed very realistic and could live in the hood.

So yes if you are a fan share the favorite moments, characters, story archs etc.

Extraordinary show. And the cast performances, with the exception of maybe 1 or 2 failures over 7 years, were darned near bulletproof. It is almost jaw-dropping seeing those actors in interviews or subsequent projects and realizing they, in fact, aren't their characters. (Snoop Pearson notwithstanding... but even she cranked it up a few notches for the show.)

They all justifiably could have come away with Emmies.

I just finished watching the entire series on HBO2Go a few nights ago. I just so happened to be watching a documentary on Johnny Carson last week and after it went off another documentary about prime time tv shows came on. In it, they talked about The Wire and showed clips of the Omar character and I wanted to see more. I started watching and literally couldn't stop until I'd seen all 5 seasons.

That show was off the freakin' chain!!! I didn't care for season 2 all that much but the rest were awesome.

Omar was out cold! I loved his good killing self!

Daniels got on my nerves.

I loved McNulty. He was cool.

Bodie grew on me and I was mad as hell when Marlo had him killed and I was even more pissed that Marlo's punk ass didn't get killed but Omar did. I was hoping Michael would have popped him instead of Snoop, I liked her gangsta. She was out cold.

I laughed like hell when Stringer and Cheese got popped, they had it coming.

The series itself was very well written and there weren't any "stars". The whole cast made it what it was. I like that most about it.

I knew from the start that I loved you with all my heart.

Best.

essay.

about.

criminology.

ever.

I have never read nor seen an intelligent and more encompassing piece about crime, than this series. It touches all subjects and layers.

Brilliant.

And I love the details. For example, the Dep. Comm. for Operations, Rawls, is a referral to the philosifer Rawls, who is know for his work "A theory of Justice"

http://en.wikipedia.org/w...of_Justice

And I know that I miss 99% of those little referals and ínside jokes. I mean, I knew this inside academic joke, however, miss out on all the inside jokes about drugs and cops.

99% of my posts are ironic. Maybe this post sides with the other 1%.

I enjoyed a Wire weekend with some of the family - it's 10 years since the first episode was broadcast. It truly is a great show - and watching it again has made me realise just how good a show it is.

Season Four is simply the best that TV has to offer.

one of the most underated shows ever on hbo along with oz..always pissed me off how shows like sex in the city and the sporanos got more attention then the wire

i agree that season 2 wasn't the best but just great characters all around...i really like bubs and rooted 4 him so much 2 turn it around

man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81

LOVE that show. It's more realisitic than most people realize.

I love how each season focused on the fucked up shit of different facets of the city.

I've broken my promise to watch this show more than any other promise I've ever made. Friends, business associates, online acquaintances; I've promised all of them that I would take the time to watch this. I even borrowed the first two season sets from a friend.... and left them on a shelf for six months. shrug For whatever reason, I just can't get into it.

There is no way it's better than Sopranos, though. And every time I see that it makes me want to watch it less. lol
