80's NBA star DAN ROUNDFIELD DIES TRYING TO SAVE HIS WIFE

"Some sad news to report: former Atlanta Hawks and (briefly) Washington Bullets center Dan Roundfield has drowned while with his wife in Aruba, according to the Aruba Herald. Roundfield was going to assist his wife, who had gotten in trouble in the ocean by Baby Beach on the island. Roundfield jumped in and also struggled, ultimately drowning. His wife eventually returned to shore, but he didn't.

Roundfield played two years at the end of his career for the Bullets in 1985-86 and 1986-87. The 6'8'' big man was a part-time starter in his first year, averaging 11.6 points and 8.1 rebounds per game. A three-time all-star, Roundfield was so tough, so physical, that Moses Malone longed to have him as a teammate. He got his wish at the very end of Roundfield's career.

Our condolences go to Roundfield's family and everyone in the league and elsewhere that got to know him."

RIP rose pray

He sure sounds like he was a good man, to risk his life and ultimately lose his life for his wife. RIP
