High school reunions

Anybody been? How many years after graduation? Good experience or bad? Any stories to relate?

It was okay. But I had friends that where a year ahead, my year, and a year behind. So, the whole gang wasn't there. But you will note that all clicks are still there. If you reach out on facebook to see if the people you like are going, (and they are going) then I say go.

The high school I graduated from will never have them, so all thoughts of having to attend, and any of the stresses attached to the process, were removed from the equation for me. Honestly, I probably wouldn't have gone anyway. lol

I didn't go to any of them... 10, 20, 25. hmph!

I was prepared to go at 25, but it turned out to be too expensive.

I decided that I did not want to pay all that money to see people I haven't even stayed in touch with for free. talk to the hand

My school didn't have a 10 year one, and they tried to get a 20 year one going but couldn't get enough people to commit for a deposit on the hall.

disbelief

I think that they're trying to get people interested (on Facebook) for a 25 year reunion next year.

I've been to all of mine - and have always had a good time. They've gotten more casual over the years, though. We had fairly big "do"s for 10 and 20, but nobody seems interested in planning (or paying for) big events, anymore. More recently, some of us just get together for drinks or a picnic. shrug

We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

Haven’t gone to any, doubtful I’ll ever go.

I had a graduating class of over 600 folks and I had about 5 good friends in my grade. There may be a handful more I wouldn’t mind talking to. If they all wanted to get back together for drinks or a dinner I’d probably attend.

I have no need or desire to see anyone else, really. I hate talking to strangers and that’s what they all are to me.

I have absolutely, positively zero interest in a high school reuinion.

Shit, I can't even be arsed to go and 'brag' about any of the wonderful adventures I've had since graduating while most of my graduating class have remained firmly rooted in the boring ass deep south popping out annoying ass Republican children.

The few friends I have kept in contact with are on facebook. And, I've actually bumped into others while visiting in Birmingham. One dude, I apparently hung out with and had a lot of laughs with when I was in high school, but I neither recognized nor remembered him when we bumped into each other in StarBucks.

He posted an anti-Obama status update about 3 days into adding me, and I dropped him post haste---look, if we're going to be politically opposed, then you need to be entertaining or someone I respect--not some southern yahoo from a ass end region of the Universe.

Yeah, fuck my high school lol

I'm in the middle or near the end actually of planing my 20 year. it's coming up June 23rd! I can't wait to go! Maybe it's because I only had like...70 kids in my graduating class so we all knew everyone. I still see a bunch of them from time to time but I think it will be great to party with everyone again.

I went to my one-year reunion. It was okay at the time because we were all still somewhat friends, but I've never been back since. There may be one or two people I'd be curious to see again, but for the most part, I don't care about my former classmates anymore and they don't care about me.

it depends on what kind of experience you want and what kind of person you are now. If you want to get your drink on and get loose.....make sure you hit the friday meetup at a local bar if your class is having one. If you have kids and a family.... then skip bar night and hit the formal event if your class is having one. Keep your expectations low...and you will have a good time.

Been 2 the 10, 20 and missed the 25. My 30th is next month. I will be there.

Had a great time at both. What struck me the most was the women that were not so pretty in H.S. were gorgeous and the fine ones from highschool were jacked up and worn out.

That was interesting.

Hell, I couldn't stand them rednecks when I was in school, I sure as hell don't want to see them now. The friends I went to school with don't attend the reunions either. I had one friend that attended the last one and I called her the next morning to ask what they did. She said they sung karaoke country songs all night. She was bored out of her skull. falloff Hell naw!

I supposedly have a 10th anniversary HS reunion but there's no date and really no planning so I don't think I'm going. I probably wouldn't have went anyway. Not that I didn't have some fun in school but it was with folks in other grades. shrug

You're from Alabama and I'm from Mississippi so we're neighbors and we went to school with a lot of the same type of folks. Sounds like you described a lot of my classmates. I couldn't go to my reunions, I'd end up cussing somebody out before the night was over. lol

Exactly!!!! That's the way it was for me too. I wonder why that seems to be true at everyone's reunion.

I was the chick that moved to their small town from a bigger city and didn't dress or act like them at all.

That said, I had friends from different clicks. Highschool wasn't bad or great...it was just meh.

My class was relatively small compared to most high schools. There were only 105 students in my senior class; consequently, everybody knew everybody. I went to my 10th and 25th; both of which were attended well. It was good to see some of my classmates I hadn't seen since graduation. I have fond memories of my high school years.

Neither. I was sexiest in my 20s/early 30s.

I'm laughing at those of you saying, "My class wasn't that big only a hundred or so." lol My graduating class had 29 people in it and 10 of those were from another school district that my school was forced to consolidate with my senior year.

I wouldn't be caught dead at my class reunion. I was "popular" but I hated my senior year (because of the consolidation) and didn't really like my friends (think "Heathers") so there is no way I want to hang out with those people now. The people I liked I'm still friends with (a handful), the rest I have no desire to see. I did go to an informal reunion a few years ago for the class that graduated 1 year before me, but as far as going to *my* class reunion - no thank you.

The check. The string he dropped. The Mona Lisa. The musical notes taken out of a hat. The glass. The toy shotgun painting. The things he found. Therefore, everything seen–every object, that is, plus the process of looking at it–is a Duchamp.

Mine was, errr, average, I guess. I think it was around 100, but it was people from age 17-43. I think it was 43 - I know there was a couple people in their early 40s. I went to a school that allowed me to do independent study and still get a diploma (instead of a GED), but they also did adult ed, S.A.M., continuation learning, special needs, etc. So my "graduating class" was all different sorts of people.
