Basically there's two catholic sisters and one of the sisters, Alice, kills the other one, Karen while wearing a creepy drag queen-esque mask in jealously. Afterwards she basically becomes a psychopath. That's basically the just of it. There's a big twist that I won't go into though. Catholicism plays a huge role in the movie.

Thank you.

Saved me the effort of explaining it looool.

It shits all over "The Exorcist".

I like The Exorcist better as a movie but Alice Sweet Alice just gives me goosebumps in ways I can't describe. The whole aura of that movie is scary.

I nearly died of fright reading the book, the movie not so much because my imagination is FAR worse than what is possible to put on a screen in the 70s. neutral

I read the novel The Exorcist when I was 9 years old! I was really into horror as a kid. I used to quote the demon cussing. I once got warned by the lifeguard at the pool when he overheard. I wonder if he knew I was quoting?

Thank you. This is what I'm saying. The whole vibe of that thing is just very wtf-ish. I was expecting something like that from "The Exorcist", only on steroids, and then got in front of it and wondered why I was looking around the room more than I was watching the movie lol .

One movie that actually does manage to live up to its hype, is the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre. I could see why people got worked into a lather over THAT, but Exorcist was just total false-advertising.

One of my favorite horror films. You feel like you've seen more than you did and the suspense stays with you after you've seen it.

It's a gif like the picture below with Linda Blair spinning her head around. razz If you type in exorcist gif you can find it--there's a bunch of the same one on different sites. lol

I love that design they came up with for her possesed state. A million movies and tv shows have copied that since. I've seen this real prop (that's a fake dummy with the makeup on it) at the Museum of the Moving Image in New York.

Great movie. Anyone that doesn't think it's scary is desensitized by modern horror films. No one I know thought it wasn't scary when it was released in the 70s.

"The Exorcist" was a scary movie for it's time. I've read articles where people in the theaters fainted and some ran out screaming. I've also read "barf bags" were handed out to people also.

The movie was scary to me for a long time until I was lucky enough to meet Linda Blair. Then the scare factor went away. I think the remakes also have watered down the "legend" also.

Now "Alice Sweet Alice" was a creepy movie. I remember being a kid staying up late watching "SNL" and during the commercial breaks they would run that trailer. That was pretty scary in itself...The horror movies of the 1970's ("Carrie", "Texas Chainsaw", "Mother's Day", "Halloween"

"Don't Be Afraid Of The Dark", "Last House On The Left") weren't just scary from what you saw, but also what you didn't see.

I think the horror movies today have gotten better but they leave little to the imagination.

Exactly. Nothing beats 70's and 80's horror films (I do like Scream though)

I agree.."Scream" was great. That was the flick that brought back the horror genre. I can't wait to see "A Cabin In The Woods". The reviews I've read said the movie is great. They also said don't see it w/ pre-concieved notions. It's not the normal horror flick and and it has a lot of twists and turns right to the surprise ending.

Yeah, I also remember all the rumors in the media about weird things happening on the set and "ghostly" images appearing on film that shouldn't have been there... rolleyes lol Probably the movie's PR department...

That movie in some parts still creep me out... especially when she turns her head and when she puts the cross in her unmentionables and screams "FUCK ME!" I'm surprised Linda Blair ain't totally scarred from it!
