this thread reminds me why I had a huge/painful crush on Jessica Alba during the mid-00's, lol

Though it's obviously not the same thing, that line made me think of this clip....

Half nothing! I think Jessica Alba IS a black woman.

Does anybody knows that Jessica Alba's husband is bi-racial. He's the son of Hill Street Blues actor Micheal Warren, who is African-American.

I knew that-he looks latino "Lack of home training crosses all boundaries."

Exactly, "Mexican" is a nationality, not a race, and it's made up of lots of races. My Legacy

It was a series called Louis Theroux's Weird Weekends, where the guy in the clip used to spend time with people usually from some kind of quirky subculture or fringe organisation (survivalists, swingers, self-help gurus, gangsta rappers, etc), bringing out the more absurd and amusing side of what they were into and kind of humanising the people involved, but also playing the faux-naif smartly enough to show up the more shady characters. Truth be told, he was probably a little out of his depth in the episode this clip was taken from (on Black nationalists in Harlem), particularly with the timing, but that scene cracked me up, and overall the people I respect emerged from it pretty well. The full thing's here, anyway: http://video.google.com/v...0492046311 "Not everything that is faced can be changed; but nothing can be changed until it is faced." - James Baldwin

Well I'll be blessed. So she has more of her mama's blood than her daddy's. Because her mom's half Danish and French Canadian. But I can see why people would be taken aback by their DNA. Tina Turner thought for years she was mixed Navajo and Cherokee because her mama was. Come to find out she was 66% Black, 33% European and only 1% Native American, meaning she may have more of her dad's blood than her mom's. Ain't that a bitch? [Edited 4/23/12 18:41pm]

Back in the day white people said if you had just one drop of black blood in you that you were black. I guess times are getting tough because now they claim any percentage they can This one's for the rich, not all of 'em, just the greedy

Hell WE can't even keep up. There's folks who look damn near pale but they're 40% black. Melanin is nuts ain't it?
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
What I'm wondering from the people who thought she was is...
Is it because you wanted her to be black, or part black, as it were?
Because you didn't?
Because you found her attractive and that's what you wanted her to be?
I'm just wondering, because as a white guy, I don't see it all. I think she's fine as all get out, though, and it wouldn't make any difference to me if she was half, or one quarter, or one eighth ANYTHING.
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
She's about 80% fine as hell regardless of her melanin, I know that. But as someone said, when she speaks, she's 20% unlistenable.
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
I actually think she's become more tolerable in that regard as she's gotten older. Her acting has much improved, as well. I couldn't watch 'Dark Angel' with the sound on. She was just AWFUL back then.

The bold print may be the answer as to why you don't see it(and that's cool). I grew up with many a clone of her back in the day. They were either latin or black. This one's for the rich, not all of 'em, just the greedy
