I don't see where she said the network was "a MISTAKE."

I saw that she said she didn't know it would be so difficult, and that she made "101 mistakes" in launching the network.

Sounds like she's being honest and humble about how complicated and hard it was/is. But that doesn't make as interesting a title, I guess.

For someone who is looked at very highly in the African American community, she should have made shows geared toward that demographic. Most of her shows, on the OWN was catered to white viewers and it cost her big time. I for one, don't really care for her and will not miss it at all.

I like Oprah.

And, I think she's a positive force for women and society in general.

She has helped to spread tolerance of gays and lesbians while several high profile and prominent gays ( Ted Haggard, Mark Foley, Larry Craig, Tom Cruise, etc.) have done the opposite.

I personally think if she choses shows correctly, it would be great.

Perhaps allowing Ellen Degenerous (a brilliatn talk show host in her own right) to do an

additional show on her network?

I also think she should drop the 'Oprah Winfrey' from the network name. Even if well meaning, it still feels pretentious... (yes, I know Turner Broadcasting, etc. haven't done so)

NBC would never allow that.Plus Ellen has her hands full doing her own show...

The problem with Oprah is that she tries to look over racial issues and wants everyone to enjoy whatever she puts out. But that's always never easy because you can't please nobody even WITH a billion dollars. I said on TUMBLR that just because you're a billionaire don't mean people will also buy or listen to your bullshit. With that money, Oprah can move mountains if she wanted but nah she chose to come in with programming that, while positive, doesn't really sell her message. Maybe she'll learn how to do that but for right now, it is what it is.

That's what she gets for canceling "Oprah". Now what she gonna do? True she's a billionaire but you can't do just about anything and think it's always gonna succeed. lol

Not really that show was all dried up, sista almost stayed a minute to long at that party.

Its obvious Ms. Winfrey really didn't think this all through; her first mistake was buying a channel in no mans land. The second mistake was her programming or the lack thereof. Ms. Winfrey should've followed the formula that FOX and others... started off with mostly Black programming and later on drop them like a bad habit, for more "mainstream" programming. lol Brutal but true.

First of all no new channel starts off well anyway . It takes a few years to build. Oprah's only problem is she has been too successful & anything else she does people expect it to do well. I think her gift is being a talk show host. Like someone else said here she should have continued The Oprah Winfrey Show on OWN. Just renamed it Oprah. I like Oprah & I'm not joining the I hate Oprah bandwagon like everyone else here..If she wasn't with Steady i would date her....

Tyler Perry Gifts Bentleys To Oprah & Gayle

Everybody gets a Bentley! Gayle King just dished on the Bentleys that Tyler Perry gave to her and Oprah Winfrey as gifts last year. Find out what she said inside and get deets on Alicia Keys new whip.

During a recent conversation, Gayle King opened up about the Bentley that Tyler Perry gave her last summer. She says it all started when he presented Oprah Winfrey with a Bentley (likely in return for the major impact Oprah has had on his life), and Gayle called Tyler to tell him how sweet she thought the jesture was.

“I called Tyler and told him how amazing that was because nobody ever does anything like that for her, on such a grand scale,” King said. “And so, the next day when I got home, there was a Bentley in my driveway!”

Must be real nice. *scouting for Tyler's number my damn self*
