I would get scared to be honest, cause if I keep it, I would be filled with too much guilt to enjoy it and fear getting caught one day or asked about it by the authorities, and I'm a big worrier, so I would absolutely turn it in, even if nothing is done with it in the end. A reward would be great though I wouldn't expect anything in return smile

i'd do a danny devito act, from the twins movie. i'd turn in approx' $15K of the found million to the local law agency. maybe tell them i found the $15K in a plastic bag at a bus stop.

cool

then i'd drive back home and chant. " $850K., just say it eighty five K, 850 thoww-sand donaros, dallahs, buckaroonies, legal tendahs and ecetera."

giggle

really though, i'd probably turn the whole amount in to the local pd hoping for a reward. in some jurisdictions found property can be given to the reporting/finder if still unclaimed after 6mos., so i'd also hope for that.

The honest to God truth of what I'd do?

First I'd take it home then ask around and look into whether or not its illegal to keep that large a sum of money if you just find it on the street (because I have no clue).

And if it IS legal then fuck it - I'd keep that shit and there's a lot of good things I could do for myself and my family with it. After I took care of all the things we need (and some things we just want), and after I put some in the bank as savings, then I'd start helping out here and there with the remainder.

But I fully admit returning it would be dead last on my list and I wouldn't do it if it's legal to keep it. Finders keepers, loser's weepers. And no I'm not worried about some mob or crime family coming after us for the dough; that's what moving is for. Plus if they did immoral, fucked-up shit to get the money in the first place they deserve to lose it anyway; the hell with them.

I would do the right thing and turn it in to the police.

And hope I get a reward or hope like hell no one shows up to claim it.

If no one claims it IT'S MINE!!!! evillol

That's what you think. Do you really think if no one claims it, the cops are going to contact you and hand it over to you? And if you ask them has anyone claimed it and they say "yes" and you ask them to prove it, they'd probably arrest you for being a trouble-maker. lol

Yeah...that's what I'm thinking.

That much money...once you hand it in to the police, it's GONE. You will never see it again.

But I understand that (to most) a clean conscience is worth more than $1million.

...as for me...I'd like to see if I could wash the guilt off through daily baths by a personal masseuse named Bambi or Candi in my tropical getaway...

The only thing a clean conscience has ever gotten me is a room in the Poor House, living paycheck to paycheck. lol

Yeah, frankly like others have said earlier in the thread - I think people overestimate the honesty of the police. I think in a situation like that they wouldn't even try to find the 'rightful' owner of the money (no matter what they might want us to believe), they'd just pocket it all themselves and laugh about how much of a 'sucker' you are for turning it in, after you left the precinct.

Yep! And being that most cops are being HIGHLY underpaid for putting their lives at risk every day, I'm sure a lot of them would be more than happy to help themselves to that money.

I wasn't thinking of the few noble cops who bust their asses doing their jobs well for little pay when I said that, and honestly I think those types are the ones that wouldn't take the money anyway because they know it's not ethical, to.

I was thinking strictly about the rest, who would gladly help themselves to the cash, the crooked cops. Which there's way more of out there than people think, to the point that I'd genuinely be surprised if anyone who returned the money, ever saw any of it again. And not because the 'rightful' owner of the dough, claimed it.

...WHAT would you do with it?

- hand it to the police?

- bury it in your backyard?

- put it under your mattress and spend it slowly?

- move to Mexico/Morroco/Madagascar and leave everything behind?

question

I work for a bank so I would know if the "Money bag" came from a banking facility or from some other source...If the CASH ain't inside a Fire-proof money bag then I'm keeping that Shit....

Now all of you know how to handle that situation....
