I'm interested in seeing the miniseries before I check out TTSP. what do you think?
I haven't seen the mini yet, or read the book(s). I'm not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing in regards to watching this movie. I think you'd probably like it, though.
So let me guess, you didn't like the end of The Grey? Did you stay until after the credits ended?
No. Just orgnote me what happened. |

That's not important right now.
Now, I'm just sitting here wondering what black folks say when they talk to a movie screen.
I'm almost certain this must be a Chicago thing. I've NEVER seen this happen.

Oh my god, come to think of it, I've seen this once!
And if I can remember, the guy was black.
It was that stupid movie, "Drag Me Down to Hell," and during one of the scenes , he was talking to the screen saying, "girl, don't do it. Oh lawd, no, no no!!!"
But I didn't find it distracting. ...because I was thinking the same thing.
That scene !!!!!!

usually black people are calling someone "dumbass" or "don't open that door" or "watch this motherfucker fall down" or "watch the black guy get killed first" usually to to top of our lungs.
omg!! my best friend got drunk (we snuck a fifth of gin in the theater) and talked all the way through the remake of "the blob". he was like "look up dude!!"

Please, god, no....not Kevin Costner bad.
"Kevin Costner bad"? What's that? Kevin ain't that bad. He just got a bit full of himself after Dances With Wolves and he's been paying for it ever since.
Oh my lawd, 15 minutes of watching him act, and I alway swant to just stab somebody in the face. |

YES!!!
And his accent in Robin Hood was almost as bad as that shit Madonna's trying to pull.
GuRRRRLLLL, give it up----You're from fucking Brooklyn!!!
But, seriously, what I notice in theaters in the states all the time is that for every scary movie
I see, there's always a few young white ladies who scream AT EVERY JUMP SCEENE, no matter
how methodical or predictable they are.
....I find that entertaining. |

True story...
I saw Scream 2 at Jack London Cinema in Oakland on opening night. When Jada got killed at the beginning of the movie half the theater started yelling shit AT THE SCREEN. Some of them stood up, swinging their arms around. Funny and scary at the same time.
I remember when Jack London opened. I was in there all the time. Until AMC in EmeryBay opened.
Actually between the two was Metreon. I would drive over to S.F. for movies. I don't want you to think like me. I just want you to think. |

I don't own a Costner movie. This list, most of which I've seen reminds me why.
'No Way Out' and 'Dances With Wolves' are my favorites. I don't want you to think like me. I just want you to think. |

You don't/didn't got to Grand Lake? I actually really like that theater but they don't have a lot of screens, so there's fewer reasons to go there on a regular basis.
I try not to go to SF too often for movies (or anything, really), but I worked a short walking distance from the Metreon twice in the last decade so I'd occasionally stay after work to see something. |

I went to the Grand Lake as a kid when it had one screen.
I rarely went after then split it up.
I like/enjoy checking out different theaters.
I've been to probably everyone between Hayward and Fairfield. I don't want you to think like me. I just want you to think. |

I enjoy Dances with Wolves, Bull Durham, perhaps a couple more on your list-but there is plenty of crap like Waterworld, the postman, for the love of the game etc. 99.9% of everything I say is strictly for my own entertainment |

And I agree with you on those. Particularly the Postman and Waterworld, which is what caused his 20 year backlash, imo. But there are also plenty of people who love No Way Out, The Bodyguard, Wyatt Earp, Tin Cup, Message In A Bottle (ugh), 13 Days, 3000 Miles To Graceland (ugh), Dragonfly, The Guardian, Swing Vote and The New Daughter. Between those two lists that a lot of movies that are popular with some people, to one degree or another. I just find it really hard to look at all those movies and believe that people actually think he's that bad of an actor. Clearly, there's a group of people who DO feel that way. To each their own. I get it. Sometimes a person just rubs you the wrong way. I can certainly relate to that. |
